Yes, that is correct.
Don't bother with the A20, unless that is all they have in stock.

I will be getting another player today, more than likely the A2.
(to go along with the XA1, and BD-P1200)

I've been sitting on the fence for a long time, and honestly was going to wait awhile. But, I saw this today and went and checked it out.

I added the A2 to my shopping cart, then added 300, the fountain, and the departed, and it came to $210.93.

Now, if I open an amazon.com visa card, I save another $30 on top of that, so for $180.93, I can have the DVD player, with 8 movies.

will power is fading

That puts the A2 at about 20 bucks.. its easier to swallow as well if you sell a few to cover your costs and convert your Netflix over to HD DVD releases and rent away without regard

The Mummy

That is tempting, $542.03 XA2, 3 movies right away, free shipping, and another 5 free.

I'll have to weigh my options and crunch some numbers tonight.

Someone convince me to do this rather than wait for the Samsung dual format player, I cannot decide!

The XA2 is one of the best machines made on both sides of this war. Absolutely can not go wrong with it..

Count me in. I got the A2, Troy, Shaun of the Dead, Serenity, and DVE for 238.88 with free 2 day shipping ($35) so that I'll get my order when my Kuro gets here.

Awesome deal.

put it this way. if by some miracle this format war ends... and br wins instead... at least you have a decent upconverting dvd player. i mean who here doesn't have like 30+ dvds by now? some movies simply aren't going to be worth replacing. so it won't be useless. a few months ago I bought my mom an oppo for $150. I'd WISH I could have bought this instead for her.

$210 for an A2 with 8 HD-DVD's!!! I was going to wait, but I think I am in. I just need to figure out how to tell my wife why I need a 5th upconverting DVD player
I have a brand new phillips 5982 that I will likely sell to make it more palatable for her

Pardon my ignorance, but will the XA2 do DTS MA eventually? Does it have the hardware capability?

I was going to wait and get a cable card ready PC with Blue Ray and HDDVD - but I could not pass this up.

It looks like it, Robert confirmed DTS MA through HBR:

Robert from ValueElctronics said Toshiba will release a firmware update to enable all HD audio formats including DTS HD MA and bitstream pass through soon. I bought the XA2 on Sunday though not from Amazon.

I'm going to try and resist until I see a model that can play DivX. That would be the ultimate player.

Bummer, it doesn't work for me. I added the exact same movies and the A2 and my "Promotion Applied" only says $-55.00, not the -111.80 you have above.

I wonder if I did something wrong or if the promotion is over...

I first bought an A20, but returned it when I heard about this from another site. Didn't see a difference from the A20 to the A2 either, but I couldn't A-B them.

Thanks Jgatie and Poolrad,

Went for the Amazon deal with the A2.
No kidding, I had it all set in my cart with the right total $210. I decided to do the amazon credit card to get $30 off...by the time I got accepted for the card and time to check out...the price jumped from $210 to $236.

They fixed the hiccup. I noticed it changing while I was buying the HD-DVD add-on, I quickly placed my order before anything else could happen. At $179, I'm satisfied. Not trying to scam another $20 from Amazon for some bad programming logic on the HD-DVD rebates.
figures this deal comes out 3 weeks after I purchase my HD-A2
post #172 of 443
I got the A2 along with The Departed, Happy Feet, and 300 combo discs for $210 and some change. I am elated. Now for the wife

I did just list my phillips upconverting DVD player on craigslist

Pat
I don't think they fixed the hiccup. I don't get my free 3 hddvds to show. They added a hiccup.
For some reason this isn't working for me. I've added the A2, and 3 discs, yet the total is $274.

I see some people are trying different discs to get the deal, but that doesn't make any sense to me. They clearly show you the list of HD-DVD's you can choose from, yet the promotion isn't applying.

Perhaps just a bug in the system at the moment?
Yeah, also I wasn't re-clicking the "free shipping" when I refreshed the page. Its still working.
Well mine was 150.00 for the player and the movies...cant go wrong there

(I had a 30.00 gift cert, and i applied for their crappy credit card and saved another 30.00) LOL

now thats a hot deal.

Now what to do with my dvb-318 and 360 hddvd player

They will ship much sooner than that, they only do that to give themselves some room.
