Best speakers for my budget system?

Im looking for opinions on the best set of speakers I can get for my system I have been setting up. Right now I have a Onkyo TX-SR604 with a JBL SUB12 hooked up to Z5500 satellite speakers. I realize as it stands now, the speakers I am using for this system are far from ideal and I think they are limiting the potential of the bass if not hurting it. So here I am now looking for 5-6 speakers to complete this system and glorify it. I live in a small college apartment (I attached a picture) and use the speakers primarily for music and I am looking to spend somewhere under $500 (preferably $300, but I understand the price of quality). I originally was looking for a micro system for looks (kind of like the Z5500's), but as long as it sounds good and doesn't look horrible in my small setting, I'll take the best sound. I am also looking at speaker sets with subwoofers since I could sell the sub seperately and make some money on that.

These are the few systems I have been looking at:
HSU VT-12 $299 - I have only read good things about these speakers, they seem like the most powerful of the bunch...my only issue would be mounting the center speaker given it can't be mounted as is, but thats not a huge issue

Onkyo SKS-HT240 $326 - I found these speakers on CNET.com as a editors choice award winner, but after reading that good news...all I see is bad things on avsforum and everywhere else. Apparently Onkyo makes bad speakers.

Klipsch Quintet II $300 - From my basic knowledge, Klipsch is one of the leaders in sound and these speakers seem to get good reviews, but I fall back to the VT-12's because if I am paying the same amount of money, why not get the better sound.

Infinity TSS-450 $200 - These speakers seem to be the wild card of the bunch. They are the cheapest and they have great reviews everywhere I look. Its hard to find good opinions on these speakers because they are so cheap.

I was also looking at the Polk RM10's but they appear to be overpriced because of their name. If anyone can give their opinion on these speakers or if you have any others in mind, please reply to this thread. I feel like I am leaning towards the VT-12's right now, but I just started researching last night. Thanks in advance.

Hsu package is great for the money, but their Performance I package may be what you need.

A comment on your speaker arrangement, if I may....the center channel needs to be closer to the actual TV screen so there is not a "displaced" quality to the vocals. Also, your front L-R speakers should be a "ear height" when seated to view the TV. You may find the sound stage a little more pleasing with the revised placement.
