Anyone else thinks that Star Trek : TOS is a test bed for a new Paramount Strategy? - Page 2

Since doing TNG, Voyager or DS9 would take ALOT more work and cost $ to do in HD, (although they were shot on film, they were transferred to, edited on and the FX completed on low res 480i SD video~) if TOS doesn't sell, don't expect to see any of the others in HD. It would take years to do as ALL the FX would need to be redone in HD...!

I thought this release was handled by CBS Home Entertainment and that Paramount is only distributing. Which would mean, CBS HE uses combos, and Paramount still doesn't.

I don't think they're trying a new strategy at all, for two reasons.

1) Paramount is simply culling a new "feature" to try and justify their always obscene price.

2) Paramount may have little to do with price because it is actually being released by CBS, using Paramount for their distribution channels.

This is mighty weak sauce, no matter who's actually setting the pricing. There's no way in Hell I'd pay anywhere near $200 for one season of a television show. I'd think about paying $200 for all three seasons of classic Star Trek. Even then, the price would probably have to be lower.

100% correct. While they have the same parent company, they are two different divisions.
