What is a really good Audio Card that doesn't take up a 5.25 Drive Bay?

I want to buy a really good audio card but I don't have any 5.25 Drive Bays to spare. What I need is something that will give me bit perfect DD, DTS, and PCM passthrough through optical or co-axial. It needs to have 7.1 channel analog audio output and those need to be as high quality as possible(at least 116 DB SNR). A nice to have would be something that can encode to either DD or DTS. What would be a good choice?

I saw this card on newegg.

ASUS Xonar D2 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Ultra Fidelity Sound Card with Complete Dolby/DTS Sound Technologies - Retail

It seems to have everything listed above(118 DB SNR, DTS connect, DD live, and optical output) for $189.99. Is there anything cheaper that meets these specs?

I didn't see where you connect the optical output on this card. Can anyone confirm where the optical output is?

I would buy an AuzenTech X-FI Prelude (msrp $199) at first choice. If that's too much, I would buy either the AuzenTech X-Meridian ('better than 15db) or the Bluegears B-enspirer (around $100) (which is the card I use in my HTPC). Both use the C-Media CMI-8788 chipset.

there are a lot of sound cards that dont require 5.25" drive bays. they'd simiply have a optical/coax port on the card itself where you'd connect your optical/coax cable to the back of the case.

i'm using the auzentech x-plosion 7.1 myself that i paid $70 for from newegg. depending on your budget, you might want to wait for auzentech's upcoming Prelude card which features creative's x-fi chipset. for mp3 playback the 24bit crystalizer from creative's x-fi is a nice feature to have.
