Image Jitter with older Game Consoles on Mits WD-65732

I suspect this topic has been covered, but this forum is so vast it could take days to find what I am looking for.

Two weeks ago I purchased a Mitsubishi WD-65732 (it was for the DVI mainly which they conveniently removed for later models....DRM anyone?)

Earlier this week I broke out my old NES, SNES, Sega Saturn and Sega Dreamcast among others to find that the ones I just mentioned have a compatibility issue (but for some reason my N64 works fine ) The image appears on the screen, but jitters up and down violently and if I try to look at it it gives me a good headache within 10 seconds. I called Mitsubishi and they say it is an incompatibility with a feature on the TV trying to up-convert every signal it receives to 1080p and with very low resolution inputs it can't compensate well enough to produce a stable image. This is a borderline deal-breaker for me as the TV was meant for gaming. On my NES I have used the old RF Adapter -> ANT as well as composite, SNES I have tried composite and S-Video and the Sega Saturn and Dreamcast only the composite as that is all I have. The Dreamcast has been hit or miss though - some games work fine and the boot up menu system works fine, but some games exhibit the same symptoms as I have described.

My question is if there is a box or any other solution that any one is aware of that will fix this issue. The images appear on the television just fine, only unstable and I can not believe that it would take much to alleviate the problem.

Thank you for any help.

No difference? No matter how you connect it?

Sounds fishy, but Ihave to admit, I have not run anyuthing older than a PS2 on larger newer digital Hi-def displays. The older Xbox tends to be Ok too from what I have seen with other owners.

Going in though channel 3 on the NTSC tuner I would think would be OK, well actually I would think every thing would be OK in all honesty.

I'm not so sure any 1080p display is going to handle much if any better in all honesty.

My original XBOX is perfectly fine, which I have modded and can play NES and SNES on, but I admit there is something to be said for playing a game on its original hardware. The Saturn is my main concern as Guardian Heroes is one of my favorite games of all time. I have ordered an S-Video cable for it and I am hoping that helps, but I am not getting my hopes up.

I admit I was surprised the old RF Adapter hookup did not work - on either Channel 3 or 4 - It makes me quite sad since I am quite the 'retro gamer' - I was looking forward to playing some of my old games on my new and quite expensive TV

yo..

what Mitsubishi said about the tv trying to upscale a low rez image is true. them old system (besides dream cast and n64) use lower resolution then 480i even.

the lower the resolution is on an image.. the worse its going to look making it bigger and bigger.

if you can try turning off the upscale on the tv and use its native 480i to play the games then that should help.

i busted out my genesis, saturn and my snes and thay all had the same problems on my tv till i just let the tv be in its native 480i then it was better.

n64 and dream cast should look good because them system were made to support 640x480 and 768x576 in some cases. im not sure about what cables can be got for the n64 but i know the dream cast has a set of components that can be hooked to it and some games can be played in 480p as well.

good luck on getting them systems looking nice

From what Mitsu told me the upscaling option can not be turned off. Sounds like they need to do a firmware update for that.

I got the S-Video cable for my Saturn and that fixed nothing - though it did make the image less "blocky". I did find that on my Dreamcast most of the games work totally fine, but the one I had tested with - Street Fighter III - Double Impact - is one of the extreme few that has a problem. And there is, of course, nothing I can do at this point for my NES or SNES.

In my opinion this problem is completely unacceptable as the images appear perfectly, only slightly unstable, and should be able to be fixed either through a firmware update or an external piece of equipment. Any tech "genies" on here have an answer for me?
