i was wondering if anyone had this problem with their 4681.

it's like a matrix of coloured lines that comes across the entire screen. it only happens when i'm watching blu ray so i thought it was the hdmi cable. i switched the cable and it still happens. it's not the blu ray player because it also happened when i hooked up my laptop via hdmi. however, it never happens when i watch standard def tv(i don't have a PVR or anything). i just got this tv like a month and a half ago...

Before you take it back on the right side of the TV it has the model/serial/version number. Just curious what your version number is?

Can Anyone help and post his default values in the Service Menu for the following ?

NTP3000 section

Amp Volume = 25
PWM Mod = 243
DRC Thresh = 20
Speaker EQ = 1

I think I accidentally change some of them so I want to verify if I have restored them correctly. The numbers above are my current settings.

Thanks in advance!

But the color and blacks on the 4681 are amazing. PQ is a lot better in my opinion.

A bit late, but would you (or anyone) be willing to expand upon that? Why is the 46A650 better for gaming? I've been browsing this thread and haven't found specifics... in fact, several reports have said the gaming was very good as there is no noticeable lag.

I was set on the LN46A650 but I just called the store and he told me they have a 52" open-box LNT5281 for $100 more ($1600.) The set will my primary (read, only) TV and will be used for mostly for 360/Wii gaming, PC gaming monitor, and DVD/BluRay watching in that order.

I had a 40in 81f and it was fine till I hooked it up to a brand new ps3 that was bad.
The tv got a line of black pixels across the set,I believe the ps3 made my set go bad but sony said the ps3 didn't cause the tv to go bad!I
I took it back to BB and they gave me a new set.

Does anyone know when they stopped making the 81f model?
I paid a 169.00 dollars for a 4 year warranty and if I ever need a replacement I was wondering what would they do?

I use my 46" set in the bedroom for Gaming and late night tv watching. I have used it to game wirelessly with my 360 and have had no noticable lag. The picture blows away the Mitz DLP on my main floor. Its amazing to me when I am close to the set how clear it is. Why would people be saying the 650 is better? It doesn't have near the contrast ratio.

I am also curious as to why they discontinued the 81. I know its not the LED's because they have new LED models now...

They only discontinued the 81 to make way for the 950 which is just the successor. I think they just made much less 81s than most companies make models...so they just dried up faster.

I think also that the 650 is better for many things. If you are a big movie watcher...the AMP, the real time black levels, and colours are all the little better in many respects. While the 81 is technically listed with better contrast ratio...it would seem from most of the anecdotal evidence that the 650 actually does a slightly better jobs with the actual black levels and contrast ratios on screen.

The 81 is far and away the better gaming TV. The lack of input lag, the colour accuracy and the ability to maintain a higher consistent resolution (the name of the process escapes me at the moment) make for a sweet gaming TV. And it does very well for movies too...so this made it my clear choice.

So where can one find a great deal on a 81 series, these days? Doesn't matter if its Canada or the U.S.

Thanks!

Thanks for posting, though you might want to stick it on the calibration forum too. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...899465&page=22

Just curious what PC video card you have and if you did any manipulation to the video on the PC or just left everything at default?

Would the A630 series be considered better or worse than the 81F?

Hmmm...well, it isn't a completely fair comparison since the 81 uses LEDs and the 630 doesn't.

The 630 is basically the 650 without the glossy screen which seems to lead to some poorer black levels.

The 650 does some nice stuff with AMP...so maybe for movie watching the 630 has a leg up on the 81. However, the 650/630 comparisons really don't seem to like the black levels in the 630...so that will impact movies. The 81 has better colours, better motion-resolution, and no input lag for gaming.

They are all nice TVs...but if you are a gamer, the 81 comes out on top for sure.

I have a question for the XX81 owners. I have a 5781 which has been wall mounted since I bought it 2 years ago. I'm moving now and so took it down and put the stand back on. At the new place, it'll be on the stand, ideally on a Studiotech U-22T.

I slid the stand in the bottom and set the 4 screws. 2 tighted down. 2 don't feel tight. They just feel like they turn. Regardless, I find that the TV is very wobbly. For example, with relatively light pressure pushing or pulling on it, it sways front and back a good 4 - 5".

My question is, is this normal? I just assumed when put the stand in, it would tighten down and be stiff, except for being able to twist and angle it. This may very well be normal, but I can't remember back to how it was 2 years ago when I took the stand off.

Can anyone comment on this? Is your set stiff in the stand or does it have forward/backward movement?

Thanks!

have you 81f owners seen the a950? if so how do the two sets compare? i remember being so incredibly imperssed by the 81f when i frist saw it and not as impressed by the a950 when i first saw it. dont get me wrong the a950 is still the best picture i can find in magnolias but i am wondering if anything changed good or bad between the 81f and the a950 and if the same type of changes can be espected in the newer sets 8500 and 9000

I would wait for the 8500 to come out.
The 950 was about to come out and they dropped the 40 in 81f to a 1/3 of the price when it first came out.(never thought I could afford it ,untill the drop in price)
The 950 might not drop as much
The 81f was new with led lighting and wasn't selling that good because they didn't make it 120Hz and led. so people went for the 120Hz instead of led.
I believe the 950 is better but at the price I got the 81f for the 950 was not worth the big price jump for me!

Maybe its me but I've checked out some of these 120/240hz sets and you still don't get a perfectly smooth motion.

I just left one of the Magnolia stores down here that has the 52" 81F for under the 2K price as of today !

I have the LN55A950 flagship and until the UN8500 is released i havent seen anything that touches it in PQ with all signal sources. The XBR8 is a fine set if you like a matte screen and no AMP for the SOE that alot of folks like.

Samsung has delayed the release of the wireless UN9000 series.

Can you adjust the backlight with motion plus on with the 950
I wish you could adjust the back light on the 81f maybe they will come out with a software update or hack to adjust the backlight on the 81f with motion plus on

Hi everyone. I have a samsung LNT4061fx/xaa purchased in August of 2007 that's having an intermittent problem. When I turn the TV on there is a slight delay (maybe 3-5 seconds, a couple of blinks of the red center light) and then when the picture comes in there are a great deal of pixels stuck pink/violet with the TV image playing.
If I turn the TV off and then back on again the picture is fine. It been going on for about 5 days now and seems to be getting worse. At first it was just 4 to 5 pixels that would be stuck when I turned it on and now it's hundreds if not thousand's. It doesn't happen every time yet but seems more likely in the morning when I first turn it on.
Please help! Any ideas?

P.S. I can try and grab some pics or video if that would help
