This has been mentioned elsewhere, but I don't recall seeing an answer. After my 73833 is off all night, it defaults to the Antennae input when I turn it on the next day. Is there a way to make the HDMI the "default startup input"?

I don't have this model as yet, but another Mits LCD I used to own created this condition when it was set to operate on low power. If this is your setting, try the Fast On power mode.

I went into my menu settings and turned off all of the inputs except for the one HDMI input that I am currently using.

Check this link for the HT1502

My local Costco has a version like the HT1502 but it comes with six light bars for $49.99 (versus the 1502s "2" for twice as much money) Even though there are multiple colors to choose from, I set mine on constant blue....it goes so well with the diamond blue lights.

I just found these at my local Costco and they look great. Was very easy to set up. My only complaint is because of the angle of the back side of the tv, you can see one of my light bars from the side of the room. I didn't have a way to completely conceal it from view.

I also have it set to blue.. to match the Mits blue lights.

PCB,

I also can see one from the side when I go into the kitchen...ah well, it's no big whoop.

You can also later rotate the light bars inside of the clips to get the bounced light just right when its dark.

I've went into the menu>inputs and turned off antennaes 1 and 2, however they're not "grayed" out like the other disabled inputs. The tv still turns on and defaults to antennae 1. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks-

I am in the process of purchasing a 65833 or the 60a3000 by sony. I like the motionflow technology and the way BluRay movies look with it on. Is there a similar technology in the Mits as I know the 833 series does have 120hz. Please let me know as I am leaving to but in 30 minutes. Sorry for the short notice.
Has anyone else had there 65833 not turn on. I have had my tv for a month and today I went to turn it on and no picture, I hear the color wheel and fan turn on for about 30 seconds then turn off 3 times, then red status light comes on? Tried unpluging for 5 minutes still nothing. Just checking for possible easy fix but will call mitsu tomorrow

You know Sony is out of the SXRD market, going forward. Does THAT change your mind?

I think he's dead, Jim...

I do know that fact. I just need to know if the technology that Mits offers Smooth 120hz is the same as the 120hz motionflow that Sony offers.

It's been longer than 30 minutes.

My review of my 65833 thus far. No fan noise. Very quiet. Input selection is somewhat slow but who cares.

Xbox 360 via HDMI in HDMI 1- Picture perfect. I mean this. Video games have never looked better. No grain no rainbow. Looks fantastic.

HD cable box via HDMI 2- HD channels look great. Standard channels look OK with some grain present. No big deal to me.

DVD 1080P via HDMI to HDMI3- This is the one that bothers me. DVD's look somewhat grainy. As grainy as standard def on my cable box. Why? Is it my DVD player maybe?
I have calibrated my TV based on the settings posted in this group to no avail. I honestly expected better results on this set with DVD's. I watched the LOTR trilogy collectors ver., T2 new ver., and the new Star Wars trilogy. All of which were somewhat grainy.... Am I missing a setting on my set? As far as the global stuff, I tried them on and off which the same results. GRAIN... My DVD player is a Panasonic DMR EZ47-V
DVR player with 1080P upconversion. Info on set confirms a 1080P signal as well.
So why the graininess???

Overall I am happy. 360 looks great, HD channels look good, DVD quality is lagging though. I am sure Blue Ray looks great but for now I am settling for DVD. I just wish I could improve it.

I originally was going to purchase the WD-Y657 but have decided to go all out and will be purchasing the WD-65833 tomorrow. I very much would like to get the appropiate Mitsu matching stand. The retailer that I am buying it from does not have the stand and says it may take 4 weeks to have one special ordered in. Looking at the Operators Guide on Mitsubishi's site states that they do not produce a stand for the WDXX833 series. Another retailer has the MB-65PB stand for the WD-Y657 in stock. Will the MB-65PB stand work? The WxHxD measurements for the sets are identical. Techh Craft makes the base for Mitsubishi. They reference the base as the MB-65, so I'm a little uncertain. Are they one in the same? I just want to make sure before I buy it because I hate returning things. I am awaiting a response from Mitsubishi but thought I'd try here as well. I'm trying to get everythng in place by New Year's Day for the Bowl Games. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Even though it's not glossy black.. I've been very happy with the one I got from Studio Tech. It's very sturdy.. easy to move and I upgraded my center panel with all fabric frame for my center speaker.

Speedy,
If you need to pic up a TV stand today, try Best Buy's web site to see whats offered, then check your nearest BB store to see if they have one in stock.

We picked up the Bush unit last month for a 65833 and are very pleased with it. I don't have the product number available but it's a glossy black frame with dark glass shelves.

Happy Viewing

I posted a pic showing my new WD-73833 and Gecko GKR-707 stand at the following link:

http://profile.imageshack.us/user/te...tvstandwt3.jpg

I think I found a great deal on this stand at $449.00 delivered price out of NYC.

I still have some modifications to make such as adding casters in place of the feet that came with it, and installing banana plugs for the AV receiver speaker connections, getting a new Xbox 360 Elite with HDMI, etc..

The stand is slightly taller than the base recommended by Mitsubishi, and the TV overhangs a few inches at each side, but I think the design of the stand actually compliments the WD-73833. The stand has a high gloss finish, and smoked glass shelves.

I'm using the Yamaha receiver to do all of my audio and video switching through HDMI, and so far I'm very pleased that everything I'm using is functioning properly.

Mitsubishi WD-73833 HDTV
Yamaha AV Receiver model RX-V1800
Harman Kardon HKTS-18 Home Theater (5.1 Surround Sound) Speaker System
Harman Kardon HKS-9 Speakers (for 7.1 Channel Pair)

Bose Center Channel Speaker Model: VCS-10 Black
DirecTV DVR HR20-100
Toshiba HD-DVD Player Model: HD-A35
Microsoft XBox 360 HD-DVD Player

I got a SWEET deal on my stand - for my 73833 it's the stand for last years 73" so it's a little deeper slightly wider (better for the components) and I got it for $25 - DELIVERED!!
I could have kept my old stand and saved the money I spent for the new one, but my new one doesn't look like a box or just plain cheap for that matter! hehehe
post #2060 of 3491
ohhh - almost forgot - Mitsubishi is going to reimburse me for the new stand ibecause it
is comparable in price to the ugly one that they wanted me to get.

Hi there I recently purchased a wd 65833 mits and had it delivered less than two weeks ago. I have to say that I have been truly impressed with the overall picture quality of this set. bluray movies through the ps3 look absolutely incrdible. initial time after first turning on to the tv showing a picture is somewhat long in my opinion. also the delay when switching imputs is a little long. I initially had some trouble with the set recognizing devices after being plugged in. I did a reset of those specific ports and all is good. I do have one MAJOR complaint or issue with the set. Today I noticed a dead mirror / pixel. YES! couldnt believe it. I stood up after putting remotes back in cabinet drawer and was very close to the tv screen when i noticed what looks like a dead pixel near the upper left portion of the top of the screen. its black and very small but you can notice it if youre really looking for it. mostly it is not detectible unless your looking for it but it still bothers me. I am wondering if anybody has experienced any issues with dead mirrors / pixels and what they did. I am still within the time frame to exchange this set. wondering if theres anything on my end (doubt it) that I could do to fix it. This is unfortunate because I would recommend this tv to anybody and also because I truly Love the picture quailty on this set. Its just knowing that this thing is there and that i can see it is killing me. Also not knowing if it will get worse has got me worried. thanks again

Return it for an exchange before you regret it in the long run. That is why they have the money back/exchange policy.

Not sure what your issue is. I am using an older Onkyo DVD player letting the TV upconvert. (Using component video) The picture is not grainy at all. In fact it looks very good. Can only imagine what Blu-Ray or HD DVD must look like.
well basically the issue is that there is a dead mirror / pixel on the tv. I have decided to exchange it for another one. I was wondering if anybody has experienced this with their tv. Does anybody know why this happens? Is this something that happens often with DLP's? Basically would hate to go through the hassle of exchanging for another tv only to have the same problem or worse.
Searched thru looking to see if anyone might be having same issue but found nothing so far.

I have a Yamaha 4000 sound bar, when trying to run video into the Yamaha then to Mitsu 57833, the 57833 tells me it doesn't recognize an HDMI switching.

Anyone using an HDMI switcher or receiver encounter this and if so what did you do? Is there a way to turn off auto-sense on the 57833?

thanks

I don't have an answer for you, but I'm thinking of buying into this same configuration. Is there some reason why you chose to do your HDMI switching in the Yamaha rather than with the xx833 and connect the digital audio output of the TV to the 4000?
Mostly to use the Yamaha as I would a receiver capable of HDMI switching. The Yamaha is capable of taking the HDMI inputs and component & sending the video out to the Mits over 1 HDMI cable.

Currently I have the video sourced to the Mits. and audio to the Yamaha on 1 device to test via Toslink. I am using the Mit's audio out for other sources to see if I can hear a diff. One thing missing so far, if using Yamaha just for audio, don't see the Yamaha menu.

Mine has done this twice in the first week I have owned it, would like to know the solution as well. I have both of the ant inputs turned off and only have one HDMI enable and both RGB inputs enabled.

Does anyone happen to have the factory settings (57833) for the following:

BMB
CMG
CMR
CMB

I wrote them down when I changed it, but my dog decided he liked the paper I wrote it on more than I did.

Are you operating the set in the Fast Power On mode? The Low Power mode may cause this problem.
