What are the side ports for: Maintenance of something???

1. How do you know if a dealer is an official Mitsubishi dealer? Is there some sort of certification you ask for or something?

2. 3 pages and no pics??? I thought this was an OFFICIAL thread?! I almost missed the fact that the 833 models can do split screen pip. C'mon guys...step it up.

BTW...I'm going to a local store to see what they're offering for labor day and I'm looking the get one! I was just harrasing you guys on the earlier comments. No harm intended, BUT I do think the game needs to be stepped up a little on this thread.

Evening though 57" fits my viewing distance, for some reason it looks kinda small from my couch. I could have gone one more size up.

I just bought a 73833 from best buy. I think I got a pretty good deal, it was a bit more than what I would have paid from ebay , but was cheaper than any other authorized dealer I could find online.

It sucks that they have it in the store but they cant deliever it until next tuesday.

So now I just need to get a stand and an extended warranty. I am thinking of this warranty from the warranties thread. any opinions?

Did you buy a 73733 or 73833. Except you purchase it from the Magnolia (installation) dept, BB can not sell a diamond in the store. I was at BB yesterday, after I read your post, to see if 73833 was on display. I saw a standard model 73733 on display.

CC does have the 73734 on display.
Only specialty and store, and authorized online retailer can carry the Diamond model.

Definetly got a 73833. it was from the magnolia dept. They only had one. The guy said they were actually going to use it as a display there, but they had to make room and they havent taken it out of the box yet. I wonder if that had an affect on the price they quoted me, since it was less than the website.

Unfortunetly I havent seen this tv in action. only seen the 73733 and the 65833.

I'm watching Lord of War and 300 on the PS3 and I see a lot of grains. Especially in 300, the entire opening scene is very grainy and in Lord of War the entire bullet scene is grainy on the bullets.

Is this normal?

lujan is base teh same size of the TV or smaller? Can u post a farther shot of setup with tv?

The set is really a nice design and reminds me of Pioneer Elite from a look and feel prospective. Picture looks great with HD-DVD and I am looking forward to the size increase from 65 to 73.

Going away for a week, so something to look forward to on my return. Got 10% off already discounted price. Could have gotten a 73734 at CC for $800 less but just the look of the set made me want it.

Based on the issues reported on DLP sets, went with the 4 year extended warantee.......Steve

300 was intentionally filmed in a grainy , dark aspect. If your going to be critical about your set you might want to pick a different movie. Try any of the LOTR ones

I purchased my 73833 from a regular BB. I live in North Dakota and there is no Magnolia store for 350 miles from me. They did me a favor because I am a very good customer of BB. I set it up yesterday. Got it for a very good price also.

Can anyone who has any of the xx833's take a picture of the remote and post it? I'm curious what it looks like and if it's decent.

Curious of those who have popped for the diamond series--was it feature set or some discernible edge in video quality that made it worth the extra $$ over the 734 series?

The deciding factors for me where:
1. color wheel. More color components mean more truer (if that's a word) colors.
2. PIP. I'm a football fan so it's a must have. Even if it means I have to get two receivers (thanks D*) Plus it had to be able to do it with 2 high def sources. The mitsu is the only one I've found in my research that does it. Samsungs xx89 models only do analog as a second source.

Other than that, the Sony was on my list of possibilities.

I have both , and they are about same as far as PQ, but got the 833 as have 2 kids that does a lot of gaming, and the 120Hz does seem to make a differents with gaming, also like the high gross look of the 833, and have lots of light in family room, and the anti glare screen does help with this,but over all but for 4 features the 2 are the same.

Yes visit www.mitsubishi-tv.com select buy online. Try a few different models and you will get a good list of dealers. The list is real time inventory so not all dealers will appear on every model. Hope this helps

u need to receivers for pip on the 833?

If you want to watch two D* channels, yes. You only need two different sources to watch any other way. ie. HDMI/Component, ATSC/PC, etc. There are modes that you can't watch together, but since my set doesn't get delivered until tomorrow and Mitsu seems to want to charge $15 for the manual now, I'm not able to tell you exactly. Maybe someone else can chime in with the allowed matrix.

On one of the other threads for the 73733 a guy says the mits CANNOT do hdmi switching. He is trying to use his ps3 to his 1.3 hdmi denon then to the 73733. However: after shutting down tv it then does not recognize that the receivers hdmi is plugged in to the tv anymore. This is a very big concern for me and I am sure many others. I plan on getting the new pioneer vsx-92txh reciever and a new blu ray one the 1.1 revisions come out. How can you do the new lossless audio formats if the tv does not recognize the video of the player>receiver>tv. Can somebody else confirm a bluray or hddvd passing hdmi from a receiver to the tv after shutting down the tv?? Thanks and sorry for the long post.

Thanks ne00, I was hoping the Diamond series remotes were better than the medallion, but the main difference is that all the keys backlight! For such a kickass tv their remote design sucks. I'll have to go with a 3rd part remote then, cheers!
