So I am stuck with an external hard drive that I just bought for this and can't use. I don't see why Motorola enabled this for the Moxi but not the DCH.
If anyone knows anything else about this, please post. Thanks

If Charter support told you it was enabled, they probably confused your 6416 with the Moxi. As I understand it the Digeo platform has the encryption done correctly with the 9012 - and it seems moto doesn't want to go with USB, but doesn't have the proper level of encryption to turn loose with eSATA.
As for Moto and Moxi - Moto made the 9012/9022 moxi series, but the functions are controlled by Digeo's software, so it was largely Digeo's choice to unlock it (once they had encryption the MPAA approved of) - from what I can tell, it appears that Motorola sees the Digeo Moxi as competition to their series - since they didn't put nearly as much resources into making these as they did the 6416s. I'm curious to know who's making the new Moxi boxes (which comply with the FCC's 7/07 ruling)
