The XA2 is still $499 at Best Buy and with the 10% off coupon makes it $449.
The mail-in 5 movie deal still applies.

Here's the coupon link - also valid at Magnolia Home Theather:

Best Buy 10percent off coupon

Still to pricey.

I'm waiting for the holidays or announcement of an XA3, I think I can wait it out and get an XA2 for $399 or less..

My bad. I did not read the small print.
Perhaps this is good for some other products like movies/games.

Sometimes you can get lucky and get the 16-year old teenage girl who doesn't know anything about the products they sell. You go through the line and if the coupon doesn't work because the item is excluded, then you can simply point out that it applies to DVD players and she will ring up the coupon anyway (doesn't even bother to look at the exclusions). Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't...but it's worth a shot for some decent savings.

It would be nice if the sales clerks didn't read it either....

I went to BB last night and paid $500 for one of the two XA2s in stock. I'm going to hit there tomorrow and hope to fastball the 12% off coupon past a cashier. If it works, it works, otherwise, it's still a decent price.

Didn't Robert at VE say that the XA2 was unlikely to drop when the A2/A20 prices were cut? I wonder what will happen when the A35 come out. Is the quality going to be the same or are they going to cheap out on the deinterlacing chip? If we're talking $500 for the flagship deck, I'd rather go older/better than newer/lesser.

I had no problem scored one last night for $439.99 using the coupon.

How are you guys getting away with using coupons before the clearly marked date?!? I can see playing dumb on the HD DVD deck exceptions, since it's on the back, but the sale dates are nice and big across the top front. Their damn Reward Certificates expire in three months flat, but the POS computers will take discounts early?

I've never been able to catch a break from Beast Buy. I once tried to get a price match for a two-disc DVD that had a clearly labeled ad in the Circuit City flyer and the flat out refused to match it; lying and saying it was a different thing. They were actually happy that they screwed me on the PM. Yeesh.

The date range started yesterday. Who used this coupon earlier than that?

You can always get a price-match during the coupon period for something you bought in the previous 30 days.

People have been posting that they used coupons last week and yesterday, but the ones I got say: EXCLUSIVE SALES EVENT August 31-September 3, 2007.

EVERY time I've gotten these packets of three coupons, they are valid from Fri-Mon over a weekend. I'm in suburban Detroit. Are there other date ranges for other areas?

Price-matching with a coupon that says it's ineligible for what I want adjusted isn't going to be easy. [sigh]

Got it as well - the 12% coupon scan wouldn't register properly, so after three attempts, the sales rep manually keyed it in. It looked like he was trying to read it for a moment, but there's so much tiny verbiage he gave up with a small head shake after a second...

This was Thursday 8/30 at the Best Buy in Paramus NJ (north store)

Plus five free discs - not bad at all.

Hey everyone,

I actually found a coupon someone posted online on one of the tech forums. They scanned in a coupon that was 10% or 12% off (for rewards members) at Best Buy.

The small print on that specific coupon said it wasn't valid on HD-DVD or Blu-Ray players, AND that you couldn't use a copy of the coupon.

I printed it out and actually picked up not one, but two XA2's at 2 different stores with no problem using the coupon. They didnt even read it or look at it and it scanned up fine. I got one for 439.99 plus tax and the other was an open box (Box was just unsealed, nothing removed or taken out or even used) for 397.99 after discounts. They still used the coupon on an open box, and the coupon said you couldnt... I think it all really depends who you work with and how badly they want to move the equipment .

Doesnt hurt to try!

As of a few hours ago, then had at least one in stock in the north Paramus NJ store, if you feel like driving from NYC

For some product that you cannot find on BB web site and local BB store, you can ask your local Best Buy store to check on inventory of other stores.
Another option is to get a list of Best Buy stores by zip code and start calling store by store to check.
Or better yet, just call your local BB store and ask them to give you the inventory of other stores over the phone.

Very clever and this might be an honest answer for some deep-pocket people that just want the best upscaling DVD player or they have no idea this player can play HDM as well.

I might use this answer if needed tonight.
