Couple of my notes:
  • What's with the hair helmet? Did she ride her motorcyle to the shoot?
  • The business attire doesn't mesh with the gaming aspect.
  • I can't tell if she's more uncomfortable with the controller in her hand....or the laptop in her other.
  • Great idea for a theme!
  • Speaking for my fellow AVSers, I'm sure we'd appreciate a dedicated thread with more pictures like this.

This week's DLC is the pack that separates the men from the boys on drums with two tier 9, one tier 8, one tier 7, and two tier 4's. My son is chompin' at the bit for these. I'm just going to have to stick with the tier 4's. =)

Here's links to the charts on youtube:

Tier 9
Aesthetics of Hate (Machine Head)

Tier 9
Sleepwalker (Megadeth)

Tier 8
Constant Motion (Dream Theater)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hR28NZl8znU

Tier 7 (should be 8 or 9 IMO since the kick drum is insane)
Clouds of California (Devildriver)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9zypk_HyIE

Tier 4
My Curse (Killswitch Engage)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6oVFgb5uxw

Tier 4
Runnin' Wild (Airbourne)

I watched these yesterday and I felt somewhat of a relief that my wallet will remain in tact this week. Those tier 8 and 9 songs are brutal. I already have enough songs I can't finish on expert in my DLC (thrash pack, Blackened, some of the WHO) that adding these will just make me feel even worse!

When are they releasing "I think I'm Paranoid part 2" That's more my speed!

Runnin Wild looks incredibly easy to Gold Star.

The Roadrunner pack is up on the Rockband store. 6 bucks for 6 songs. Not too shabby.

Dunno if we are going to do RB2 talk here as well, but "Shackler's Revenge" has been leaking and is in the GnR forums. Pretty cool song.

Anything and everything Rockband (1, 2, 27) can be discussed here (hence the sticky).

Awesome!! Anyone know the track listing for Rock Band 27?? And is the equipment more durable. I'm tired of RMA'ing my Rock Band 26 drumset!

no word on the soundtrack yet yet but people are still hoping Jimmy pages great grandson will finally chillax on letting HMX²(HMX bought out activision in 2020) use the masters. As for RMA's HMX² already stated than the conga expansions made by Nintendo weren't covered under their warranty however the 200 peice xylophone controller will be covered. Also they just annouced that they are merging the special edition neil pert drum controller with the special edition john portnoy set. Meaning that's a 400 peice set for only 3,999.99!

Optional Response #2:

Why don't you do it like a REAL musician--programming it into a computer for the robot drums to play!

Greetings rock folk,

August 19th DLC is ready to be announced! This week we're hopping into the wayback machine and setting the dial for the early '80s. We've got a pair of tracks each from two of new wave's most influential and altogether awesome bands in Duran Duran and Devo! And as a special aside, the Devo tracks are new recordings from the band, made special for Rock Band! Each track goes for 160 MSP ($1.99).

Also this week we present a track from the Janitors, "Get Your Rock On," which is featured on the American Mall soundtrack. That song will go for 80 MSP ($0.99).

You'll be able to snag all of these tracks on Xbox Live Marketplace on Tuesday, and the PlayStation Network Store on Thursday.

TRACKS:

Devo - "Girl U Want" (new original recording) - 160 MSP - $1.99

Devo - "Through Being Cool" (new original recording) - 160 MSP - $1.99

Duran Duran - "Girls on Film" - 160 MSP - $1.99

Duran Duran - "Rio" - 160 MSP - $1.99

The Janitors - "Get Your Rock On" - 80 MSP - $0.99

All tracks are masters.

happy now? BTW buying the devo and duran duran songs garunteed have to listen to the janitors somng first.

Nice! They're all mine.

Awesome DLC next week! Never listened to Duran Duran back in the 80's but in recent listening, I kept thinking...Man...some of the drums and bass lines would be cool in Rock Band. And Rio was at the top of the list!

Hi everybody, Michael Shorrock, here. I’m the Director of Publisher Relations here at SCEA. I work closely with all of the publishers and developers who create games for all PlayStation platforms. While SCEA had a ton of great announcements at E3, I’m excited to say, we have one more for today, one that I know a lot of you have been asking about:

For the past several months, we have been working closely with Neversoft and Activision, Harmonix and Konami to ensure that PlayStation 3 guitars and drum sets will all feature a basic level of gameplay compatibility.

For the most part, this means that the titles with musical peripherals will work with the other’s software. A few specific examples include: Guitar Hero: World Tour’s guitars and drums will work with Rock Band 2 and Konami’s Rock Revolution software.

And yes, you guessed it, Rock Band 2’s guitar and drum set will work with Guitar Hero: World Tour and with Rock Revolution.

Conversely, Rock Revolution’s drum set will work with both Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Band 2.

In addition, Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Band 2 will both support the SingStar microphones.

We’re still working hard to ensure compatibility between the Guitar Hero and Rock Band titles currently on the market, and we hope to have an announcement on that shortly.

So here is my first complaint about RB2.

Why why why do we have to wait and wait for separate controllers, again?

I am not a good enough drummer to really justify upgrading my set right away, but I would love a new guitar with the auto-cal and hopefully more durability and better overdrive activation as promised. But the only way for me to get one is to buy the entire special edition, which would leave me with two drum sets sitting in my game room (I guess the first set could go to Salvation Army or something) and like 184 USB microphones. I could see this scheme for the initial release of Rock Band, but why do it this way with RB2?

As for the compatibility, that is great news. Again, competition helps out everyone. I'm sure they would not have spent much time on this if X360 users didn't have this basic compatibility built in with the Xbox controller standards. Now if they will just make the announcement that they've figured out how to let me play GH2 on the PS3 so I can mothball the PS2.

seperate controllers for 360 launch with the game disc on sept. 14th. It's been pretty much assumed that the ps3 version will launch with both seperate controllers, the game only and a special edition bundle(360 has to wait on the special edition bundle).

+1 - I've got an extra ps2 *just* for playing the GH series. However I doubt we'll ever get it to work on the ps3.

As an aside, I don't know if I want it to work on the ps3 anymore. I tried running ps2 > component > receiver > hdmi > tv, but I could never get rid of the lag.

Well, hopefully they do. Right now you can only pre-order special edition or software only for PS3.
