I have the 42" version of your TV. I looked over the owners manual for the 52" and other then the contrast ratio and screen size they are the same operational wise.
You would not benefit from 24fps output since the LC-52D62U does not support that input mode.
My display looks great with 1080i input and would suspect yours will as well. I would research if there are any reported issues with the Sharp 52" models de-interlacing circuitry. If there are issues then you may want to go with the XA2 or A35 model which output in 1080P. If you find no de-interlacing issues then the A2 or A3 models would work fine. I have the A2 on my sharp and like I said above it looks great.
What type of sound system will you be connecting to? If you have an older AV receiver with 5.1 analog inputs you may want to go with a HD DVD model that has analog 5.1 outputs like the XA2 or A35. This would let the player decode the TrueHd sound and pass it to your receiver via the analog outs. If you have a newer HDMI receiver that can handle PCM, or TrueHd decoding then you could go with the XA2 (assuming it gets the bistream firmware update) or the A35 which is supposed to pass TrueHd via bitstream over HDMI.
Keep in mind that all of the HD DVD models have optical toslink outputs to pass Dolby Digital + which sounds great also.
So we need more info on your set-up for sound and $ to spend to help dial -in suggestions for your best matching player.
Hope this helps
