This is the best approach, given Toshiba's tendency to carry over issues with these players between the generations.
Because these units are firmware upgradable Toshiba has shipped the product based on a manufacturing timeline, fixing issues or problems later through firmware updates. This is similar to Microsoft fixing Windows versions as they go along.
If a feature is important to you, best to wait until the product actually performs as you expect and not rely on a future upgrade that may never happen.
