Any word on the release dates?

Yawn. The same players with worse styling. I'm hoping there's some improved boot up time or something or they should have just stuck with last year's models and saved themselves the effort. Where's the DTS-HD MA support on the premium player at least?

They want you to buy a HDMI 1.3 receiver.

Update on prices from the HD DVD conference:

EP30 - 349 euros
EP35 - 449 euros

The latest from Venturer, the HD7000, is 300 euros. It's got upscaling and 720 and 1080 output.

Tosh intro the EP 30. It's 1080p compatible, it'll have 24 frames a second so the same as what movies are recorded in, all the industry standard stuff and will be 349 euros.

The EP35 has HDMI 1.3 with Deep Colour, 24fps and will be 449 euros. (I've got to check that. the slides are qizzing past...).

The HD-805 from Onkyo for 999 euro and will have the best of the best for the most high specd player out there.

Each HD-DVD player from Toshiba will come with 5 free HD movies.

The Onkyo HD-805 might be the one to get - even though the price (list) is $899.

So even Tosh's G3 don't play DTS HD MA?
DTS is Dead Theater Sound.

Why would Tosh: "want you to buy a HDMI 1.3 receiver"?
Tosh doesn't make receivers, let alone "HDMI 1.3" receivers.

The EP30 also has "Deep Color".
Wouldn't that imply: HDMI 1.3, as well?
Thanks.

I don't believe there has been any confirmation of DTS-HD MA decoding or streaming in any of the G3 players. Just because a player offers streaming doesn't mean it streams DTS-HD MA. It still needs a license for that, and you still need media that is authored to allow streaming.

Other infos from the HD DVD conference report by DVD Times:

Toshiba Europe won't be making 1080i players anymore after October: 1080p only.

HD-EP30 comes in October. 1080p/24, HDMI v1.2a output. 349-399 euro.

HD-EP35 is the high-end model, also in October. Same chassis as the EP30. But it has REGZA Link and HDMI v1.3 with Deep Color functionality, and bitstream output for HD audio formats. 449-499 euros.

16:12: Talks about firmware release schedule. 24p being added to the older models. From December, all HD players will be able to replay 50p. (This means that European-originated HD shows will not need to go through a lossy standards conversion process to be released on HD DVD).

Onkyo DV-HD805: calls it "the best of the best" which is surprising to hear from a Toshiba employee. 999 euros. Standout feature is the HQV Reon VX video processing chip.

The free movies bundle promotion is coming to Europe! 5 free movies free with each player. The titles are still being chosen - but MIGHT include Miami Vice, Batman Begins, King Kong, Chronicles of Riddick, and Troy.

So HD-EP30 is HDMi 1.2a. I've updated the first post.
