at least a couple of them anyway.

$499 price

Touts HDMI 1.3, 24FPS and Dolby True HD on the box. No mention of HQV

Bah. Wonder if the 1200 will drop..
.
My local BB still has several G1 Sony players...at $799.99 so I doubt this will happen.

Awesome, thanks for the tip. Just picked one up at my local BB for $440 something with the new 12% coupon. Will be testing it and comparing it my PS3. So far, boot up time is looking pretty good.

Wow, I'm surprised their out already. Wonder if the 2400 is far behind (and the dual format player). The 1400, as I understand it, does not have the Reon chip that the 1200 has; but more audio support IIRC.

That is because it does not have HQV that will be on the 2400. But nice find that they are out.

There's now a Samsung BDP1400 sticky discussion thread at top.

What 12% coupon?
You got lucky - the coupon specifically excludes BD and HD DVD players, etc.

One player in stock at the Danvers, MA store as of 11:00 this morning.

We can use this thread to post sightings. There was one at my local Best Buy in Bridgewater, NJ around noon today. It wasn't on display but just in with other boxed 1200s on the shelf. They may have others but they weren't on the shelf.

One of the 1200s was an open box for $549 for Christmas sake! Come on BB, get with it!!! I got a 1200 for $399 this morning at Sears. If it doesn't pan out for me and I end up returning it, maybe I'll check out the 1400.

Beware of the Sears 10% restocking fee! I got nailed on the return of a BDP-S1 for $150, even though I asked the clerk what their return policy was and he never mentioned the fee. I will never shop electronics at Sears ever again!

I went to my local BB and called a few others and ended up just paying for one (and I got lucky with the 12% coupon to). Anyway, they checked the warehouse and it shows 263 in stock! So they will be trickling in this week at a BB near you! I am going to end up with the 2400 but I am excited to get a 1400 to keep me company. Who knows, I may keep it for my bedroom anyway...

Thought you had a Panny for the bedroom...I know you also have a Pioneer...Heck, what do you do collect BD players?... I'm gonna wait for the 5000 dual player before I explore again...
My Panny is actually for my outdoor set up (keep up ). My Pioneer my Wife has in the livingroom (and I sometimes steal it for my theater) so I am really looking for a gen 3 player to take over full time in my theater... Between the XA2 (or the new Onkyo coming) and the Sammy 2400 I should be covered in my cave... And yes, I am sick!
The 1200 has been discontinued, so get 'em while they're around.

Keep the 1200 it is a better player. The new 1200 will be the 2400 since those both have HQV on them.
What about Dolby TrueHD? I would agree if you were using the 1400 for upconverting standard dvds but if it is primarily going to be used for Blu ray titles then the 1400 is the better choice...

I asked about restocking if I brought back the 1200 and the guy said not if it is malfunctioning. Well POTC doesn't load and I'll bring it in with me to show them if I decide to take the 1200 back and they want to charge the fee! Also, I got some skips and dropouts on Pearl Harbor during the attack. Not good!!

My friend's PS3 handled these "same exact discs" no problem when I tried them at his house later on.
