Did the very same thing with ROBIN HOOD. Am saving it.

So glad there are still a few of us die-hard 1400 users left. Last of a dying breed, n'est pas?

our 1400s are sort of like old cars, keep 'em running and 'run them into the ground', as they used to say.

I just saw "Fanboys" last night and it was great that it just went directly to the movie. Too bad I can't recommend the movie.

Anyone try and play an AVCHD formatted movie burnt to a DVD on the 1400?

I have an HD camcorder that I recorded a 2GB movie. The movie was in .mts format. I do not have a BD burner so I read where you can use TSmuxer and convert the .mts to AVCHD format, burn it to a DVD and play it on a BD player.

Well, I did as such and the 1400 played the movie fine for 5 seconds then the movie started to slowwwwww down and crawl instead of playing smooth.

I popped the DVD into my BD ROM on my PC and it played vis PowerDVD just fine.

Any idea?

DARN! and DOUBLE DARN!!
went to watch 'robin hood' tonight, it got to the menu ok, i chose 'directors' version, it went to 'this film was formatted...' or some such thing, and it then locked up! WTF!!!

tried it 3 more times, nada.

as the quoted post above states, 'RH' loaded and played ok when i tested it. but not tonight.
as i had the projector fired up and didn't want to waste anymore lamp time, i put on liam neesons 'after.life' which loaded and played perfectly.

i'll have to try 'RH' again tomorrow with the flat panel. and see how 'rh' plays on the sylvania bdp.

has anyone tried out any of the new 'alien anthology' blu-ray movies on their 1400?

i plan to get the set next week.

trying out 'RH' on my 1400 again this am. same thing three times in a row again . locked up same place . (what could have changed in the past week since i successfully test loaded and played it? ) i've even cleaned the disc again.

tried it on the sylvania bdp, no problem, fired right up !

tried it again on the 1400, this time used the 'go to chapters' workaround. this is working . so far . i'll let it run for a while see how far it gets...

I use the "chapter" method all of the time whenever it tries to freeze, will have to upgrade the 1400 soon though, looking at the 6500 or 6900.

>>Me included. HA!

FYI, just loaded TOY STORY 3 with no problems. (Disney has the usual 75 previews at the beginning. But I love the preview to TANGLED, so I watched.)

Played the first 10 minutes.

Then had to stop. Will go back later. Can't wait.

I always remove my disc from the player even if I'm going back to it in a few hours. God forbid my "widdle" 1400 would decide to self-destruct. Just because. With my costly BD disc inside.

Just a small paranoia I have. In my "old" age.

I intend to keep my 1400 going (slow load notwithstanding) until it gasps its last. Don't feel up to getting used to a new technical device. grins.

yeah, me too, eventually. altho, i could call my $60 new! sylvania bdp an upgrade of sorts as it's a faster loader, doesn't have the 1400s issues, etc.
the only reason i would actually upgrade is cuz the sylvania doesn't have 5(7).1 analog outs.

Forgot to mention (in case it matters. grins), I'm on the most recent FW upgrade. Last April 22. Think the number is 2.3? - AJ

most goodly newz. thanks.

please let us know how the other three movie discs perform. (i, speaking for myself, don't care about the 'extras' discs.)

edit-over the last several days, i've watched 'midnight meat train', and 'splice' on my 1400; the usual slow loading, but no other issues.

I believe the other three will also work because the first one did so I don't plan on trying the other 3. Also, I would normally watch them on my Panny 300 and not the 1400. I just wanted to try the first one for your benefit.

Across the pond as I couldn't resist the big difference in price.

Don't be too impressed with "The Book of Eli", I wasn't.

thanks for the warning, i've heard that before.

not worried, tho. after years of fretting over whether my ht setup is 'up to snuff', etc or not and nitpicking apart movies for any faults, i've finally gotten to the point where i can just sit back and enjoy the show. as long as i don't get bored, i'm happy.

between the premise of the movie (i like these types of movies) and d. washington whose acting i like a lot, i think i'll like it ok. (crosses fingers/knocks on wood)

got my netflix copy of 'preditors' today. test loaded and played on my 1400 with no issues. took forever and a day to load, as usual. but then ok.

I still have my 1400 doing part time duty in my home office hooked to a Samsung LN32A450. This morning I tried Sorcerer's Apprentice and it would play the opening Disney intro for about 2 seconds then spit it out saying it can't play the disc. I tried twice and it did the exact same thing. I am on the latest firmware. I tried the disc in another player and it played flawlessly.

I have semi retired my 1400 a few times now only to drag it back out for sentimental reasons. Not really sure why I bother as I have so many other much better players. Perhaps its because it is my first and as they say you never forget your first

Hopefully it will just quit altogether here soon but until it does I feel Samsung should still support it.

So sorry you're having problems with "Sorcerer's Apprentice."

Have had my 1400 since 8/07. I live alone (retired "old" lady teacher. Very anal. HA!) So no one on the planet has ever touched my 1400 but me.

Also never rent movies. Only buy.

My 1400 loaded "Sorcerer's" just fine. Watched all previews (it IS a Disney movie after all. HA! ). Played it for 25 minutes. No probs.

Same for "Fantasia." At least "Fantasia 2000." Haven't tried the original "Fantasia." I'm going to "assume" it will be ok. Bad move? HA.

Anyway, perhaps your unit has a "glitch" or "dust" or (what do I know. I'm not a "geek." Had trouble learning how to make the FW discs. grins.)

I want my 1400 to hang in. Forever. Don't want to get used to a "new" BD player. And since I don't care about any of the other "bellznwhistles" (Live/internet connection et al), the 1400 fills my needs.

Plus I'm patient re: the loading, etc.

Didn't want any of the other 7 people left who are still using the 1400 as their main player to assume "Sorcerer's" doesn't load/play. 'Cuz it did for me. Latest FW, BTW. - AJ
