Are you using bananas? Spades?
If you're using bare wire....be really, really, really certain you don't have a stray wire shorting against another surface. It only takes 1 tiny strand to cause a problem.
You should also double check your inputs from 981, make sure they're clean and well connected. Assuming you're using HDMI?
hey - sorry to hear - but it will work out for the better once your settled down -- i been thru it also -- over 5 years now - but it was a pain to get back on track - and finally i am back and now i cant get my HT going --
i started the process of elimination -- ok what i did was play a music cd in the 981 which i use for the movies -
and i have no issues with music - no noise or static or any of the issues i am having with playing dvd movies on the 981
so i guess that means - the speakers are fine and the wiring should be also -- which makes me worry more now -
i am getting a feeling that it may be something in the 7002 now - or the 981 but affects only dvd movies -- so not sure if that can be possible -
what i did now was just change the wires behind the 7002 for the rear speakers - i was having the issue with one rear speaker - so now i have a movie ready - i will watch later and see if i hear the same issue and from which speaker - i would think it would be the other speaker now since i switched wires -
i just ordered a new marantz dvd player from Rich at AVS -
Rich has been good to me and anyone looking to purchase Marantz units - should give him a call -
i have two theories -- one - can it be the oppo 981 which is not outputting audio correctly from dvd movies ?
or worst case - it can also be the 7002 which is not correctly processing the audio from dvd movies ??
i dont think its the amp section because it works fine with music --
i really hope its not the 7002 - would hate to have to send that in for repair - would take weeks
thanks for the links to speaker wires -- for now i am ruled that out -
all hdmi cables are new - monoprice - and the 981 always worked fine with dvds before but it was hooked up to just a tv - not AVR etc.
so could it be the 981 ? or does it sound more like the 7002 ?
i will wait to get the new dvd player and will hook that up first before giving Rich a call to send it in for repairs --
if i cant get it resolved before the new player comes in - and i try the new player and if it does the same thing - then i can rule out the 981 - speakers and wires - that leaves just the 7002 left - and would be worst case - bummer
any suggestions would be welcome -
