I also have the 7002, and also Dish network (feeding 2 viewing areas in my house).

You are correct >> the difference in audio levels is coming from DISH, and I really I doubt there is much that can be done.

Thanks to all on this thread! I am now the owner of new SR7002, delivered from Amazon at a price that still makes me smile see......?

Coming from separates (Parasound AVC-1800 and HCA-2205A), I'm glad to report that so far this receiver is transparent- no noticeable lack of quality.

And upgrading from a pre/pro that didn't even have component video, and one set the speakers to 'large' and 'small' by flipping toggles on the rear, it's certainly a luxury to have OSD for settings. Simple, perhaps even primitive OSD, but effective.

Bottom line- nice AVR at a more than decent price. I hope to delve deeper into the features this weekend.

Just curious..Did you keep your 2205A?

Yes- I still have it. I was going to trade it it towards the SR7005, but the price cut on the SR7002 was just too good for me to pass up.

I've tried doing a search of this and can't find anything, so does anyone know whether the 8002 will do A/V pass-through for those times I don't want to watch TV with my home theater speakers? I can't find anything in the manual about this but it seems like a feature the receiver would have.

I'm in the market for an 8002. But I'm a little stumped on what to do...

I can purchase:

"Marantz factory refurbished" SR8002 for half MSRP with 1 yr warranty
or
New SR7002 with 3 yr warranty for half msrp
or
SR8002 from ebay, where the seller says the unit comes from authorized reseller.

I'm sort of leaning towards the last one, but I'm worried that the guy is being dishonest (however, he does have like 10 of them for sale...)

You may want to monitor amazon for the 8002. Last month they had it brand new for over 55-60% off msrp. I see that they raised the price right now but amazon always goes up and down on their pricing.

I would love to order from amazon, but I'm located in Canada and they will not ship up here (due to warranty issues). However, I'm moving back to the US next June/July.... Do you think the sr8002 will still be available then?
I'm sure they will, but would u want to wait that long.

Can anyone tell me what advantages discrete amplier stages or current feedback amplification have if any? And if you are using an external amp with either of these receivers, are the discrete amplifier stages useless? Thanks

Well, Amazon has a good price today so I decided to purchase a sr8002 and have it ship to a relative in the US, who will then ship it to me! I'm exited and can't wait to hook up this beast!

That's very good news. Glad you were able to work it out. I know you'll love it. What speakers are you using?
b&w front: 601s3, rear: dm303 center: lcr60

I'm hoping to get some 805's (non-diamond) and move the 601's to the rear

Guys I need help connecting my music hall cd player to my 7002 via analog, which is the right set up? Do I use Aux2 , cd/cdr input or 7.1 analog on the receiver??, I want to use the analog only no digital , wondering how you guys have your cd players set up via analog and which is the right way to go. Thank you.
In case you have not figured out yet - Use CD input. If you want to feed video input as well then try VCR 1 or VCR2 as well.

Set the Marantz for Source Direct or Pure Direct, if you don't wish to use Audyssey or other signal processing.

Looks like Amazon is comming to the end of thier stock of these units. Price is the lowest I have ever seen, I sprung for one yesterday, and paid $27.00 more than the price today. Free shipping too.

I took the day off yesterday to set up the new sr8002. All I can say is WOW! It's the exact sound I was looking for. I feel that this receiver is far superior to the Rotel 1560 and the Denon 4311 that I listened to. It kind of sucks that Amazon has the receiver for half the amount I paid for it... urgh! But the receiver has the latest firmware, but I feel that the sub is pumping hard, so I have it turned down all the way. This is a really tall receiver and I only have about 1 cm of clearance on top. Is this ok? I do have two 120mm pc fans next to it, cooling down the sides...

At least without the fans, I would not be comfortable with that clearance. I had to take mine in (2 weeks before the warranty expired) to replace a couple of resistors that fried on the display or display power supply board. I feel it was likely heat related, and I have about 2 inches clearance above the unit. This thing gets quite hot when it's turned up much at all.

I'd check the temps above the unit, and see if the fans on the side draw enough air from the top to keep it cool. Heat is the enemy of electronics, and I want mine to last a loooong time.

Wow, the 8002 is down to $653!? Nuts!

So I have the 7002 driving a 7.2 set up in my HT.
However; I also have an adjoining pub-room and would like to use the multi-room feature to drive another audio source in the pub room.

I think that because I am using all seven channels that I am limiting the multi-room capabilities. Will adding a 5 channel discrete amp for the HT area be the workaround I need to free up a portion of the 7002 amp section for multiroom audio??

Hi, I have ordered the SR8002 from amazon for the deal price today. Could you please suggest some good 5.1 speaker system to go with this? About $1000 is my budget.
Thanks in advance.

You're getting the receiver at 60+% off, you need to find some speakers in the $3000 to $4000 dollar range you like and then try to find them at 50% or so off even if used. Otherwise you won't get the best out of that receiver. IMO

But if $1000 is really your limit try Accessories 4 Less

This is one instance where the user manual (pics on page 6) is not exagerating.
Of course many of us don't have that sort of shelf space (8") above, beside & behind, to fulfil the stated requirements. I'm lucky - I have plenty to the sides and about 5" above, in an open shelved environment.

As has been said before, "heat is the enemy of electronics". So if you don't have anything like the dimensions stated, all you can really do is either:
i) provide additional forced air, or
ii) don't run the unit hard.

If you can't comfortably hold your hand on top, imagine the component temps inside!

GqMagic,
Thanks for the suggestion. Could you please suggest few models in that range, so that I can look for it online. Thanks.

Hi guys,

I can't seem to get the multiroom system mode to work.
I'm following the setup instructions as per the manual but i'm not getting sound.
I've tried both the "multiroom out terminals" and the "mutlispeaker terminals" methods but no sound was being produced.
I managed to get sound when using the basic L/R preouts so i'm confident the second zone speakers, amp & their relative cables are not faulty.

Any suggestions or known issues with the multiroom feature in the 8002?

I'm pulling my hair out here!!

Thanks
