First time HT audio setup

I will really appreciate any advice for my first HT audio setup. I already have a Harman Kardon AVR144(I believe is a little low on power, only 30Watts /chanel) and I plan to buy the speakers. The use will be 50% music(Santana, Satriani, Led Zeppelin), sports and movies.

1. First choice will be the Fluance SX-HTB(450 CAN, taxes, S&H included) with all 5 speakers, I see mixed reviews but for a beginner like me it looks good.

2. Second choice will be to buy only the Klipsch Synergy Floor Speaker (F2-CH from BB for 460 CAN(with a 500 rebate) and add later(this could take a long time...) the other 3 speakers.

I realize the second option offer more quality but it will cost me more than 500$ for the other 3 speakers(not to include the sub). So I will need to wait some time until I will have a complete HT setup. Also does this 500$ difference translate also in a big quality difference ?

Thanks in advance !!!

Hello, anybody has second for me ?

You'll be much happier in the long run to invest in a good 2.1 set-up for now and expand later. Personally, I would stay away from HTIB (Home Theatre in a Box) speakers.

It's hard to equate $ to quality. Some "budget" speakers sound better (IMO) than speakers costing thousands more. Then again, some budget speakers sound just like that - budget speakers.

Thanks for your response. I decided to start with 2 front speakers, do you like the Klipsh F2 series or I should look at some other brands ? This is what I can find at FS or BB in Canada :

Infinity
Athena
Energy
Polk Audio

What will you recommend ?

Thanks again !

Hello fellow Canadian. We are only limited to either SVS or Axiom speakers. Unless you want to pay extra cross border fees then you can go and buy AV123 or Ascend speakers.

Millenia M50 towers from Axiomaudio look nice but how they compare to Energy or Polk ? There are some good deals on Future Shop for Energy and Polk so I am tempted to make my decision between these two...
