What are the odds the Pioneer Kuro's and Kuro Elite's will drop in price by Christmas? Should I wait?

Very unlikely for the new models to drop till the end of life as these panels sell very well through the year. Some very compelling deals can be found now.

i disagree. the probability is 100%, especially with everyone else already way below their pricing and continuing to drop theirs.

I think it was mentioned last year that Pioneer didn't drop last year either. It's all up to the manufacturer. Like mentioned, check the forum sponsor pricing. They are MUCH cheaper than you'd think!

I believe and I think D-Nice also confirmed that around November to expect a price drop, but I don't think we're talking 1000's.... we're probably talking $500 MSRP, but since a lot of dealers are well below MSRP now, that doesn't necessarily translate into a $500 decrease in their prices.

One side note though is that you can always wait forever... because as prices drops so does information about the next model, which then makes you ask the questions of - Pio 9gs have X, should I wait?

Etc etc... the importance is to get the best you can for the best price you can, that way you can enjoy it, unless you have something to tide you over for however long you want to really wait...

PDP prices generally decline during the Christmas (a.k.a. Holiday) shopping season, so most likely you will save a few hundred $ if you wait until Nov. - Dec. before buying a Kuro display.

what are you talking about??? pioneer dropped the 7th gen ones ONE MONTH after they came out and continued to drop from August 2006 through May 2007.

Whatever price drops or not, I just wanted to mention that I went to a BB yesterday and saw the 6010FD on display. I talked to one of the employees for a while and to cut to the chase without disclosing prices, all I can say is that he told me what he could get the 6010FD at his employee price. I can tell you that we are getting a BLOCKBUSTER-DEAL through our sponsors. If I told you what the 6010FD is at "cost",you would flip!!If you are thinking about saving $$ by waiting for price to drop, then its your decision but I can tell you that it would be useless to wait for price drops at these prices.I understand it comes down to everyone's budget so do what you got to do.......

well no kidding. the forum sponsors TVA (previously) Invision, Plasma Concepts and Cleveland Plasma have ALWAYS sold sets for the rock bottom price..at the time. I always found Visual Apex to be a little high compared to others.

Very true dtrell,...Our sponsors are angels!!

Yeah, he said "until October or later.."

... but the speculated few hundred off street price would be nice to see.

I am pretty sure those two numbers are not the same - cost and what Best Buy employees buy for. I believe Best Buy employees get a discount that is cost + x%. I don't know what x is.

Prices will drop, but not as drastic as Samsung and Panasonic...

I disagree. Pioneer is taking a stance on pricing (from all of my sorces), yes there will be price drops but nothing big.

Correct to all who said Pioneer, especially Elite models will drop very little over the next 12 months. You will see some pricing degrade, but not much till the end of life, which will be next July-August '08.

I think the pricing and especially the deep discounting gives the suave avs forum members a very fair price.

So much so that you feel sorry for the guy that pays BB's in store price.

I'm not so sure that this is a question that can be answered. Do the forum sponsers know of all price drops scheduled by the manufacturer? Probably not. I just don't see a manufacturer putting out advanced information about price drops. Consider Sony's PS3. On Friday, no, no, we aren't dropping the price. On Monday, it drops a $100.

I think the odds are with you by waiting and you can't ignore the $500 price drop on the 6070 in October 2006. 10% is 10%.

Correct it is not a "true" cost.

well Pio's are the kings of plazma's, the merc benz and are the best flat screen TV's on the market today... just beacuse of it Pio's strategy of holding the prices much higher than nearest competitors does work for now.

The closer the competition will get to Pio's in terms of overal PQ the better the chance for a nice drop any time soon

New 5084 1080p from Sammy easy to buy at just over 2kusd should take a lot of sales from Pio and that should push the Pio to drop the price on specially lower res. 5080 and even on 1080p 5010 that should not cost more than 3k usd to be competitive with 5084 that I just bought
post #28 of 72
Now you are just trolling plazmaman
i forgot, some of us here have job security issues...

would not you rather sell 4 5084's rather than 1 5080 ?
1080p 5084 at 2200 usd is a steal and already oudated 720p 5080 at 800usd more is just over priced comapred to 5084...

some facts can be sad but true specially to some Pio fanatics...

You're trying so hard to fight the 'fanatics' yet you're being a fanatic yourself. Personally I don't buy my TVs so I can re-sell them. Relax son.. I've learned my lesson. Just let people do things themselves and let them be happy.
