Which would you buy Vidikron Model 30 or JVC RS1??

I understand this could be an explosive question but I have two local HT companies that are each pushing one or the other. I am not a huge techno file but want to get the most bang for my buck. I feel each of these guys has their own bias/agenda so I thought I would through it out to the group to get differing opinions. I am trying to stay under $6k.

With out a doubt the RS1 is a better projector. The only reason for buying the model 30 would be for service. Vidikron must have better service.

But the RS1 will give you better resolution, better contrast, same or better brightness after calibration.

The Vidikron only has a 6 months warranty but the JVC has a 2yr warranty which should make a difference assuming JVC is good about standing behind their products.

Does the fact that the RS1 was released this year and the Vidikron was released 2 years ago 10/2005 make a difference?

With front projection 2 years is a life time. A projector two year old sold for less that 25% it's original purchase price.

A 720P projector for 6K is a hard sell. There are options other than the RS1 for about the same money that would offer a much better value than the Model 30.

The short answer...RS1. Why? Mostly because the Vidikron is a bit expensive considering the shifting market. It is a fine machine for performance, but it is one of those things where the minute it gets into your house, it is worth less than 1/2 of what you paid.
