Typhoon1611: Well, you are unlikely to see exactly those exclamations about the DSP and VART, but you could find the instructions by searching this thread:

Press and hold for few seconds both of the '<' and '>' source select buttons in front of the device. Then you can cycle between the different component versions by pressing either of the select source buttons.

Thanks for the answer!

Sorry - wrong thread. Post moved.

Need quick help guys... Just moved and haven't unpacked yet. Want to get TV up and running to keep kids sane. Does the 775 allow you to pass audio to TV over HDMI to just use tv speakers? Can't find a setting anywhere... And never needed it before.

HDMI Monitor out - seems to be just picture on my 785.

All systems are go. Curtis at Definitive Audio went to bat for me and went up the food chain suit to suit all the way to Lenbrook. NAD stepped up and sent a brand new T-785HD with the latest FW V1.28 installed and tested prior to sending it to Definitive Audio who then in-turn tested again with my OK before I dumped the broke one off and picked the new one up.

Basically all seems to work as it should. I ran the Audyssey setup (which is new to me) and got some funny results that I had to tweak to be more listenable. The sub distance ended up at 26 feet and -12dB? for instance but I will head over to the Audyysey thread to get some "how to's" there.

I spent a lot of time going over the Audyssey threads and have redone the setup (several times) with small tweaks here and there and believe it is dialed in pretty good. The T-785 sounds sweet, no hickups or burps. Now I'm going to sit down and just listen and enjoy for a few days.

Yeah, I get some silly results on the sub and check phases, but I just left them alone. The system sounds terrific using the NAD curve. After almost two years, I'm still thrilled with the performance of the 785.

On my T775 (non-HD) You just need to NOT use the HDMI in the audio source setup, that is:

Set the video source to the HDMI port You want.
Set the audio source to nothing (--)

This makes the receiver pass the audio on to you tv instead of processing it.

I have a T785HD with audio dropouts on DTS and Dolby Digital, clicks when changing sourse and muting when changing track on CD ( optic and coax).

I just got it back from service. They change boards and upgraded the firmware to:
MCU: V1.25 beta
VART: V1.04
VXP: V1.00
Video: V1.04
DSP: V1.04b

Dont know what it was before but the problems remains!

I am from Sweden (Europe) so sorry for my bad english.

T785HD
T585 DVD/SACD
T557 Blu Ray

Sorry to hear about yor problems. I had the non-HD T175 and I too had problems with sound dropouts on S/PDIF inputs. FW was 1.24, but it was pretty much the same the whole time I had the unit with every FW version.

Isn't the version 1.27 the latest currently availabe?

Too bad the new AM200 boards are succeptible to that problem too.

Send it back to shop? Online support isn't much help, I've found.. Maybe with that cd-player since it is NAD too, so should work fine. Are the dropouts there with other digital sources e.g. with digibox?
No dropouts whit digibox but clicks when changing TV channal.

Dont know if the FW is the same in US and EU. Anyone??

I will send it back. Have anyone solved this problems?
The relay clicks are a given when there is a interruption in the incoming signal. (Well, I suppose some digiboxes and cd-players etc. don't interrupt the output signal, but those that do.) It clicks to mute the output. The previous iterations of hardware and FW had shorter time that this muting lasted, and that caused clicks/pops to be heard from the speakers.

I suppose the only way to avoid those muting clicks (and beginnings of cd-tracks being muted) is to have sources that don't interrupt their output signal when changing channels or tracks.

But do you have clicks/droppouts in the middle of DTS/DD signals? I.e. when there is no track or codec changes in the source (channel change, commercial break etc.)

Yes I have clicks and dropouts on DD and DTS from both T585 and the T557 when I play DVD. (in the middle of DTS/DD signals)

Are you sending the signal over HDMI? I had problems with HDMI and audio-drop out. In my case it was my TV that was having problem in the negotiation/handshaking in the HDMI chain.

Please also be aware that Firmware 1.28 is the latest I am aware of. It's from 7. July 2010. Check with Hi-Fi Klubben in Sweden.

Yes, I am sending over HDMI.

Do Yoy know if the Firmware (1.28) is the same in US and EU?

Yes, should be.
I installed FW 1.24 myself. No problem on my T785HD (w/AM200 and VM200).

fw 1.28 corrects the following:
1. Samsung 3D Blu-ray player model BD-C6900 is sending out incorrect audio parity checksum causing the Txx5 to mute HD audio.
2. Some PCs are unable to upload the Txx5 software properly due to RS232 timing errors.

I have no 3D TV and will wait.
My T785HD works so well now that I do not want to make any corrections before needed.
My believe is that you should check your setting of the components in the HDMI chain.

Hi all,

After months of contemplating, I've decided to order a NAD T765 with AM100 and VM100 today. I was originally going to hold of for the new Anthem MRX 500, but when I spoke with my local dealer today, he said that he's not sure if they were going to get those in till November at the earliest. He does have a T765 in stock and is giving me a really good price on the unit. I'm a little apprehensive based on the number of issues posted in this thread regarding the pops / audio dropouts and brought up these concerns with the dealer. He's willing to let me take it home today and demo it with my gear for a week or 2 to see if I'd be happy with it. He's checking to see what firmware level is on the unit and is willing to do the firmware upgrade if necessary. I'll post some updates once I have this bad boy hooked up tonight. For those that are interested, I plan on hooking up my PS3 (BluRay, games, MP3s streaming from NAS) and Rogers HD PVR via Ultralink MKII Platinum HDMI cables. The speakers to be connected for now are Monitor Audio Radius R One HD (Front) and Radius 180HD rears + Paradigm PDR 10 subwoofer. If all goes well, I'll move this unit down to the basement theater connecting to Paradigm AMS 300 Speakers / AMS 150r speakers / Paradigm DSP 3100 Subwoofer.

T785HD
T585 DVD/SACD
T557 Blu Ray

I got my Service Report to day. Now I see that they only upgraded the Firmware (muting 1.25b & video mcu).

Quick question on the colors I'm hoping someone can answer:

I know what the traditional NAD grey looks like but have never seen the darker graphite finish. Is it more of a black, or just a darker grey?

So just a quick followup post after a days worth of testing. The T765HD is a beast! I've heard things on bluray disks soundtracks that I've never heard with my Pioneer VSX21. MP3 music through my ps3 sounds fuller and more detailed. Picture, even though the vm100 is a pass through board looks more detailed and realistic - almost 3d in some cases. Huge upgrade from my pioneer with respects to both audio and video.

Now for the bad news. I heard minor clicking everytime I scrolled through the list of artists in my library - but it didn't bother me at all. What did annoy me was the funky coloured green or pink screens that would flash everytime I changed from listening to a song to playing a bluray - both on ps3 over hdmi. This I can also live with. What I can't live with is the completely random occurrence where midway through an mp3 there would be a fuzzy white screen followed by audio drop out for 10 secs followed by playing of audio for a couple secs followed by repeat of fuzzy white and no audio. If I stopped the song and played a different song then Went back to the song, there would be no issue.......hmmmm

I'm going to ask my dealer to reload the firmware to see if that helps.

I'll post results in a couple days once it's reloaded.

Graphite = Black

I am curious about the serial number of NAD receivers after which most of the issues have been corrected.

In case some have not read it:

I can only say that I find the T785 a wonderful sounding AVR.

I have the exact same problem

I run HDMI from my PS3 directly to my T785, movies are almost impossible to watch as the sound drop out 2-5 times every minute! Wierd part is that it is ONLY when watching DVD's (DTS or DD), never with Blu-Ray movies running True-HD or DTS-HD-MA.

I have also tried another DVD player(via HDMI), same issues here

I've tried upgrading the firmware to 1.24, but without any change.

What shall I do? Does my reciever need to be serviced? A while back I recall reading something about the T7xx series needing some transistors and tiny components replaced at a NAD service center.

Mine has never been serviced and is one of the first T785's which arrived here in Denmark.

Any good advice?

EDIT: I have the T785 non-HD version

Thanks.
Jim

There exists a HW mod to the DSP card, "intermidiate sound dropout in DD or DTS mode". And there also exist a HW mod for the video card related to HDMI and 1080p.

Blu ray works fine for me to. "HiFi Klubben" will replace my T785HD as soon as they get in new ( updated) ones.

Does anyone else out there own the Queen Rock Montreal Blu-Ray??

I've had this for a while but something has changed for me. Back when I got the Disc I had my NAD T-775 (non-HD) and PS3 Fat (no bitstreaming). This means that I was letting the PS3 decode the DTS-HD track and send it via PCM over to the T-775. Sounded great.

Fast-forward to today and I have upgraded both components. The receiver is now a NAD T-775 HD with on-board decoding and a PS3 Slim capable of sending the bitstream data over to the NAD to decode.

I've never had a single disc do this before, but the DTS-HD 5.1 Audio Track from this Queen Blu-Ray will not play. It's completely silent. If I switch to the LPCM 2.0 track I get audio. Likewise if I switch the PS3 to PCM to decode the DTS track.

Any ideas why this would happen? Is there any work-around? Has anyone encountered this with other Blu-Rays?

Thanks,
Jason.
