I am struggling with Audyssey and no matter how many times I run the Audyssey (I ran 2 times - 8 positions each), I am always getting -12 for the sub. Any helpful tips? (I am connecting the Audyssey mic onto a tripod and running the tests.

I had that problem too, -12 on the sub, but just kept turning the both sub's gains down a wee bit at a time and finally came in at -9 which works well. Other then a dealer installed firmware blotch and a fan replace the 785HD has performed great. I like the NAD sound and this is my second NAD AVR. I had the T-773 previously (it is now connected to my PC in the 9x11 "puter room" hooked to some Axiom M80s v2s ) and it is still going strong.

Same thing happened to me. I also lowered the volume on the sub until the channel level for it was about -9.

Even more so for me. I had to lower my subwoofer's gain control until my subwoofer level showed +3 before it lowered my main levels to +10/+11. Maybe due to my inefficient mains (Magnepan 1.6QR)?

Does this unit (775HD2) have the Audyssey DSX or is it limited to the main audio formats? The reason I ask is that I am debating between this unit and the Onkyo TX-NR5009. I have an NAD receiver now that I have nad for nearly 10 years and I LOVE it, but it will not go beyond 5.1 and does not do DTS-MA or Dolby TrueHD. I really like the NAD amp, but the Onkyo I mentioned seems to have a lot more features, although I am not really sure how many of them I would really use...

If you love the NAD, I would highly doubt that you would love Onkyo. I personally have owned both but no contest! Again this is highly subjective. The 775HD only does Audyssey MultiEQ XT. Not even XT32. But again, I love the sound!

A little off topic but this seems to be the hot NAD HD thread.

I currently am using a M15 with a T973 driving Dali Diva Grands in a 7.1 setup with an Hsu sub. I would like to be able to take advantage of the newer lossless codecs and am thinking of going to the T175HD.

I use the system mostly to watch movies but do have a very nice vinyl front end consisting of an older VPI TNT with an Eminent arm and a BAT Vk P5 phono stage and do enjoy the music.

Since my room is 20x20 with some treatment and optimization using and analyzer I would guess that the Audyssey would also give some improvement.

My question is will I notice a loss in audio quality with the T175HD vs the M15?

Will the gain from lossless and 7.1 vs 5.1 make much difference?

Your thoughts please.

More than lossless, I think you might gain from audyssey room correction. If you don't care about it and want a bluray player with good Multi channel analog outputs, get the Sony s5000es before they are sold out. Check that thread in bluray players forum. I have one and love it. With Multi channel analog you don't need hdmi for audio. But you won't get room correction.
I suspected that might be the case. I have heard from others that the room correction can have a major effect.

I don't think I would want to do an upgrade without the room correction so I guess that leaves only the question of which prepro. I have a chance to pick up a used T175hd that is local and I can go hear. Since it is priced pretty well I will probably go in that direction.

Thanks for the reply and the suggestion of the Sony. I think I will keep my LG BH200 for the moment.

Just curious if anyone has seen a vm150x in the US yet?
I installed a VM150/VM150x combo yesterday with Firmware 1.29. The VM150x appears to have some handshaking/bandwidth issues with my PC, but works fine with my DVD player. The VM150 does not exhibit the same issues. iPod dock works as before, and I don't think anything supports the Ethernet capabilities of the VM150x yet (there are no additional menus for IP etc.)

As a side note the VM150 is not compatible with nVidia 3DTV play. I had to create an EDID override that merged the display capabilities of my VT30 with the audio capabilities of the T785/AM200. Now I have no issues with HDMI1.4a 3D.
I have a NAD 785 with the AM200 and the VM200 installed I have been using it much more then before recently and I have noticed a few issues that everybody else on here seems to be having.

1) First 2-3 seconds chopped of when using a digital source (digital coax or HDMI). I had my Squeezebox on digital coax and it got so annoying it is on analog now. This isn't really a big deal but it is annoying.

2) When watching anything from my Oppo 93 I have been getting random audio dropouts. I have my cable box set up just streaming audio to the NAD through digital coax and it has also been having random audio drops. This is really annoying and even more so when you consider the money I paid for the 785.

I talked with somebody at NAD support who told me I should take my receiver to an authorized service center to have them look at it, the closest one being 125 miles away, probably not going to happen for quite a while.

Does anybody have any suggestions or are these just issues we have to live with?? Is there somebody specific that I should talk with NAD to see if they have any ideas?
Yes, I've had similar issues. Can you set your Oppo to PCM output instead of DTS or DD? See if that makes a difference (I know it does on the PS3). I was hoping to get an Oppo-93 as well, but if it does not have a PCM option I might need to stay clear.

Also, are you on the latest revision of firmware?

I love the sound of the T785, but I can't say it hasn't come with a few headaches here and there.
I have the NAD T775HD with AM200 and VM100 and have no issues except for the 1-2 second delay in the beginning of a track. However this happens only at 44.1kHz and 48kHz. I am using 88.2 out of my iMac and it works fine. Weird!

You can output PCM on the 93 as well.

I will try and change the output over to PCM and see what I get, I used to have a PS3 and I don't remember the 785 having any drop outs with it, however it was before I had the AM/VM200s installed.

I bought this week MDC modules VM150 and VM150x for my receive NAD T765 (with already upgraded module AM200). I didn't see any issues with HDMI ports, also HDMI-CEC works fine with my "old" Samsung TV (LE46F86BD)

I'm bit surprised about the network port! I is written on NAD's website: "Ethernet Port allows network control of the AV receiver". Thus, I connected a LAN cable and one IP was automatically assigned by my router (seems that automatic dhcp is enabled by default). Then I tried http:// ... but as result a white page with text "NAD T775... work in progress." ...

Do you have an idea how to use network control ?!?
The VM150x works fine with everything apart from my PC, so its not really an issue. I've moved the PC to port 3 so I have no problems now.

I'm looking forward to the Network Control aspect of the VM150x. I did the same thing as you and got the "NAD T775... work in progress." message (even though I have a T785)

I tried telnet and "Main.Model=T785" was returned. If NAD make the control protocol public I'd be more than happy to write an Android/Windows app to control the unit.

NAD new models coming !!

It seems NAD is in the process of selling all the remaining stock of T775 HD2. Elegant Audio Video is selling T775HD2 for $1799 !!!!

Note: I have no relationship with this store (elegant audio video ) and not promoting anything, just wanted to share some info.

I called my local NAD dealer and I wrote also NAD directly. Both answers are same: They are still implementing the interface and the software is not ready. As soon as the firmware will be ready, my local NAD dealer will contact me.

If anybody has other new information, please post them here!

I am currently running firmware:

MCU v1.23
DSP v1.03b
Video v1.02
VXP v1.00
UART v1.04

Does anybody know if these are the most recent for a T785 with a VM200 and AM200?
Anyone heard anything further about new product announcements from NAD?

I believe you are behind. If you are fully capable of using a windows pc and serial port and straight through serial cable, ask NAD for the latest firmware. Sometime they send them to you. They are just concerned someone will brick the unit in the process.

This supports vm150 and am200, not sure if the update also includes vm200 changes? When I updated, it verifies all the diiferent cards that are supported.

MCU: v1:32
DSP: v1.04b
Video: v1.01
UART: v1:05

Who did you contact to get the firmware files/update software from? I was going to try and email or call NAD next week or the week after I just didn't know if there was somebody specific to contact?

Thanks.

Thanks.

I asked Bob Moran for latest since wasn't sure if my problem could be fixed by an update.

Is NAD offers 3 year warranty for the receivers that registers within 15 days of the purchase? I remeber seeing an PDF document and could not find that document again. I already missed that 15 days time, but checking whether any of you got that 3 years option (instead of the usual 2 years).

I picked up a NAD T-775 HD2 a few weeks ago and was having the problem some others have had on this forum--a 1/3 to 1 second clipping of the sound at the beginning of an audio track. For me it was happening with the Apple Airport Express optical digital out to the NAD optical in.

I contacted NAD through their web site support today and got almost immediate reply. I had version 1.29 of the firmware. They sent me 1.34, saying it should fix the problem. I installed it and no more skipping.

So, if you're having this problem, the firmware upgrade might help.

By the way, reading through this thread was very helpful in setting up my system, so thanks.

Regards,
David
