The first thing I did after the calibration was set up the sources and then listen to some very loud doom metal on vinyl (so 2-channel analogue), and then sleep. I guess over the weekend I will find something explosion-y on Blu-Ray to test it on. I probably won't be able to provide comparisons with the old Audyssey sound, because my unit had become so unreliable in the months before the upgrade/repair I was factory resetting every couple of days and gave up performing calibrations. I am hoping that the combination of repair/cards/firmware will draw my four-year quest for a stable NAD receiver experience to end.

Make sure you have the 1.34 firmware. I really fixed some nagging issues for me.

Came back with 1.32. If I have any issues I'll see if I can cadge the 1.34 from the distributor.

If you are comfortable with computers, toucan probably do this yourself. 1.34 fixes an audio dropout at the beginning of each audio track.

Yeah, I've updated the firmware on my unit a few times. The first time was a fiasco, but I got better at it. Dropouts are pretty much the only thing I haven't suffered from, mind.

Has there been any word at all from NAD about upgrading to Multi XT32 or adding Auddyssey DSX to any of the units? DSX is fairly intriguing to me, and is the main reason I am still debating between the 775HD and the Onkyo 5009.

Anyone have vm150x and the iPod dock? It seems like the iPod keeps playing even when the receiver turns off (like with sleep timer). Used to turn off fine with the old cards.

Isn't the amp supposed to be factory reset after an firmware update? I update to 1.34 but all my settings are the same. Include audyssey.

Not necessarily. They did the software upgrade such that the settings are saved and possibly translated into a new format (if needed) after the upgrade. This is the right way to do it. Other manufacturers that still require you to re setup everything are just lazy and wipe away the settings.

Ok, that's good. It has been reset when I updated it before.

The drop out in the beginning is shorter now but not gone.

What is the procedure for a factory reset? Can't seem to find it in the manual. And is it truly not necessary after a firmware upgrade or is it best to reset? Thanks!
When I upgraded to v1.34, I noticed that the upgrade process saved and restored the settings at each step. I wrote down every setting before the upgrade but found that it had been a waste of time. All settings stayed as they were before the upgrade, including Audyssey. One thing I did do was turn the power off and on on the rear after the upgrade. I don't know if it was necessary but I've had to do that a couple of times in the past to reset odd problems.

Hi,

Could someone please provide me with the v1.34 upgrade, drop me a PM.

I have a T785 HD with v1.28, Hifi Klubben insists that the AVR is sent to a service center in Denmark for the upgrade...

Is the update same for US/Europe?

Edit; Got the file.

The release note states "Software upgrade for units with installed VM 150 module", is the update applicable for AM200/VM200?

I believe the firmware automatically detects the cards and does the appropriate upgrade.
I updated, the installer detected the cards and suggested the appropriate updates, main firmware and video in my case.

I have another problem the volume control on the AVR does not respond correctly, I have to turn the knob slowly otherwise it doesn't work. I had the exact same problem on my old T785 (got replaced in the end). Could this be related to the firmware update!?

I think I noticed the problem once last week, but then it worked again. Imagination!?
Visited my local dealer, the problem with the volume control was not that uncommon, they have sent a couple of devices to repair.

So now the device need to go to Denmark anyway, thinking of upgrading vm200->vm 150 at the same time.

(Thankfully the local dealer wasn't upset that I updated the device myself...)

My AV installer is suggesting I buy a T785 for my home theatre. It will run 7.1 with Totem Tribe 3's in the main system, and a subsidiary 5.1 system in the bedroom with 3 Totem Tribe 2's up front. I currently have a Pioneer Elite SC-05 that hasn't given me any problems, but he says the sound quality of the NAD will blow me a way in comparison. Am I wise to purchase the T785 given that it's over 2 years old, even though I can upgrade the cards, or would you suggest another amp. He has quoted me $3800 CAD.

Thanks,
The T787 is around the corner ( http://nadelectronics.com/products/a...Sound-Receiver ). I'd wait until it is released as you might get a price break on the the T785 if you decide to go that route. I can't imagine there is much functionally different between the receivers due to the MDC options.

My T785 replaced a Pioneer DSP-A1 and the sound quality improvement was significant. If there is any way you can demo the receiver with your setup this would be the way to go.

Thanks,

I bought the T775HD for $1299 on clearance sale only last July. Love the sound. Well worth the money. However, I would not pay $3800 for the T785. I am sure you can find the T775 on sale. There is not that big a difference between the two to warrant the difference in price (IMHO).

Is the T775HD you bought the one with the upgraded cards in it? That is a fantastic price!

It came with AM200 and VM100 MDC cards. Both audio advisor and saturday audio had it at this price last June/July. I have been very satisfied.

Hi!
Would be very happy if someone could send me the latest firmware. I own a 775 HD and would love to not to have to send it to Denmark for a couple of weeks. That seems to be the offical way here in Sweden, seems kind of stupid to me.

Just so you'll know in case someone sends it to you, here in the states, the 1.34 FW is for the VM150, and they strongly recommend not using it for the VM100. NAD said in an email to me that a new FW for the VM100 models is coming, but timeframe is "months."

Ok, thank you for the heads up. Hifiklubben in Sweden says that there is an update for my 775 HD, will try to find out more then before I try anything out.
Maybe the retailers got the firmware you are talking about?
Seems some people in this thread tried the 1.34 firmware on receivers that don´t have VM 150. How did it work out? Any problems?

Considering they just released new receivers 787, 777 without it, I wonder!

Great news. Any improvements you can share?

I'm at the end of my patience with the VM200 module in my T775. Pops & clicks during cable programming and will not pass HDMI audio from PS3 games or streaming (Netflix, Hulu) material. Also get audio dropouts from all Dolby Digital materials regardless of source. I've been through the firmware upgrades to no avail. Problems are worse than ever. Will the VM150 resolve my issues? I'm beyond caring about the video upvert if I can make everything play nicely together.

Do you have 1.34 firmware? If not, do the upgrade. Do you have the VM200 and AM200? Have you asked NAD to see if they can upgrade (/downgrade) you to VM150. I have the T775HD that came with AM200 and VM100. I upgraded to VM150 (not because of problems though!). Everything is working great.

Have you tried changing the PS3 to PCM? I never had any luck with the PS3 and the VM200/AM200 combo with bitstreaming (but when I had those cards it was pre 1.34). If you don't care about video upconversion then the VM150 does seem to be the solution, for me it was the ONLY solution as I wanted 3D capability. There were some initial teething problems with the VM150, but they seemed to be ironed out now.
