A couple of pages back - I was asked.

My current settings are basically 'factory out of the box' with the one exception that I've switched to Theater Black 2 as the color mode.
I've now had a chance to do some measurements. Full details are here http://www.lowtek.ca/roo/?p=22
but I will summarize in this posting.
1080UB is ceiling mounted, ~17 feet from a M1300 80x45 screen. Room is complete light control. DVD player is cheap Sony via component @ 480p.
Measurements done with ColorHCFR v2.0 and Sypder2 sensor.
I've got some amount of colour shift from left to right - the left side is more blue, and the right is more red. This is very slight and while I can spot it visually in test patterns - normal viewing material doesn't show it. I needed to use the Spyder2 sensor to validate that this wasn't my imagination, its that subtle.
I'm getting ~12ftL when displaying a 100IRE full screen. Pretty nice considering I'm at a long throw and in the 'darkest mode', I also measure off the screen, with the sensor ~8" away. So it likely is not 12ftL at the seating position, but I find it plenty bright enough.
I haven't done any tweaking - these measurements are stock. I still have not logged 10 hours on the bulb.
I've attached the CIE u'v' and RGB levels images to this posting. The Sypder2 is quite inaccurate at lower IRE levels, and is also considered to be less accurate than other low cost sensors - but its what I have.
Looking at the images, you can see that grayscale is off - and the red and green primaries are not quite right, magenta also seems shifted as well. The good news is that the projector is clearly capable of covering the entire REC601 space.
As many in this thread have noted - the image is quite watchable. I do notice that this display isn't quite right, having had the opportunity to see calibrated displays recently - but I would not be able to call out what was wrong without some sort of sensor based measurement. I believe the only thing that I've been able to validate is the comments that some reviewers have made about the 1080UB "Good, not great, out of the box color accuracy".
And in advance - YES I will post when I've done some tweaking to correct this, and what my settings are. However - I would strongly urge people to invest a little bit more, and get setup to measure/modify yourselves.
