Hitachi 43fdx01b Maintenance

Thread Starter
All,

I'm a regular on this forum but have mostly just stayed in the Houston OTA forum. I have a Hitachi 43fdx01b. Ancient, I know but it was state-of-the-art back in the day.

Anyway, it still works great but it has become home for a flock of little moths, and the mirrors and lights need to be cleaned.

Can anyone tell me how I can get to the inside without messing it all up or electrocuting myself? I have the owners manual and all it says it NOT to open it myself but to call a technician....I can't afford that.

Any suggestions?

I won't go into much detail---afraid of giving wrong/bad advice!!!!

I suggest searching the "Don't Dump Your CRT RPTV" thread here. Started by ISF calibrator Bob Jones (aka Mr Bob), there is lots of info regarding optics cleaning.

Although it will still cost some $$, you might also consider getting a phone consult from Mr Bob-esp. if the job stil seems daunting after finding the info you desire. Likely cheaper than a service call, though. He can talk you thru cleaning over the phone for a resonable fee. Just find any of his posts here to get his email address/home page link.
