Maybe I can find something has changed in the unit's setup settings that killed output, but that's a slim chance, I guess.

Don't forget you have two HDMI outputs. Have you tried both? I'm fairly sure they are driven from two separate HDMI transmitters.

Followup on my HDMI problem. Moved the DTR-8.8 output to SUB and still no video on TV. Then I had a brainstorm and moved the HDMI input on the TV to it's HDMI2 and had video. So problem is with the Samsung TV. Drat. But I do have 3.5 years left on the warranty for it.

So while messing around with all the wires I decided to move our cable modem next to the DTR and connect up the network port. Got it on our net and able to see it from our laptop's browser. I setup Media Player 11 and got audio working from the laptop. Can't seem to figure out network radio setup. Integra's manual sucks for giving examples etc. Guess I'll have more time during this 4th weekend. Thanks all for the help

I just got a B stock DTR-8.8 for less than an 806!! My brother has a friend who is an authorized dealer. I'm using the receiver to drive Aperion 4T Fronts, 5C Center, 8D Sub, 4B Rear surrounds. The LCD TV is a Samsung LN52A650.

I'm sure I'll have other setup questions. Many have been answered by reading this thread. One question I'm not sure about is:

I'd like to use the 12V triggers on the back of the receiver to run two 12V fans that will be on the back of my DIY built cabinet. How would I hook up the fans to the receiver? And how do I program it so that they run all the time when the receiver is on? Based on reading the manual it seems like the triggers are set only to come on when the input source is changed.

What kind of plugs are the 12V triggers so that I can wire the fan to the receiver?

Thanks,
Steve

What is the current main Firmware and DSP?

I want to see if I need to run an update?

Hi Everybody,
It's taken a year and a half.. but I've finally run a component video cable from the HT to my Zone 2 TV. All this time I've been living with composite video in Zone 2.
Anyway, I configured the "Component Video Monitor Out2/Zone2" as "Zone 2", changed the input on my Sony LCD TV to Component... and nothing! Blank, no picture.

I double checked my cabling and everything is right. I changed "Component Video Monitor Out2/Zone2" back to "Monitor Out2" and bingo... I have a 1080i picture (upscaled from a S-Video feed from my sat receiver).
I change it back to "Zone 2" and I get the blank screen again. I double check the manual (page 125) where it confirms that The "COMPONENT VIDEO MONITOR OUT2/ZONE 2 OUT" outputs video from components connected to composite video inputs, S-Video inputs and component video inputs.

I changed the Monitor Out Resolution to Through (from 1080i) and I still get no picture from the "Component Video Monitor Out2/Zone2" when it is configured for Zone 2.

Has anyone here set up their DTR-8.8 with a Zone 2 component video configuration? From what I understand reading the manual, Zone 2 component should output video from component, S-Video and component sources... but mine isn't.

*edit* I did a another search through this post and found that I DID mention this "fault" before when I was experiencing another heat realated video fault with my then-new DTR-8.8.
I thought no composite/S-Video to Zone 2 Component out was due to the problems with my original DTR-8.8... but it appears that this how it is.

Can someone out there with a DTR-8.8 configure their Component Video Monitor Out 2/Zone 2 to "Zone 2" and confirm that it will not output composite/S-Video sources when using Zone 2?

Please help...

Michael.

Does anyone know if you can control the 8.8 with cidero and play music from your computer.

Not sure. Did you try the 905 Onkyo forum for this question too?

Hey All -

I own an Integra DTR 8.8, a Pioneer PRO-151FD, an AppleTV, & a Samsung BDP-2500 blu-ray/dvd player.

The blu-ray and the apple tv are all conected to my integra, with a single monitor out hdmi cable going to the pioneer.

For the AppleTV, I also have analog audio cables in addition the HDMI connected to the Integra. So when I select the appletv input source on the remote (currently tied to Aux1), I can hit the audio button on the remote and switch between hdmi or analog to hear audio.

What I would like to be able to do is watch some workout dvds on the blu-ray player, while listening to tunes on the AppleTV. However, whenever I change input sources, it seems it carries audio & video and there is no way to separate the two.

Any ideas on how to solve this little problem of mine? Perhaps I've overlooked something.

Thanks all,

-Bill

Oops I feel like an idiot. Plugged the analog outputs from the AppleTV the the analog inputs labeled "DVD" on the Integra. I had them in the "AUX1" inputs, thinking I could reassign them from the setup menu.

Problem solved!

I have a Freshly refurbished Integra 8.8 receiver off Ebay. I'll be using it in a 24'x40'x20ft great room when all is set up. The room has a 20 foot cathedral ceiling. I bought the receiver as the nucleus of the system for under $850. I have nothing else under fifteen years old or suitable for this installation. The LCD Toshiba Regza 55ZR670U looks good, as does the Panasonic AE4000 projector. The screen will hang from about 12 feet. Type of screen uncertain but should handle some ambient light at dusk, at least.
Ambient light is not controlled from high windows at front and back of the room. There are 7 french doors to outside as well, as it is a multipurpose room. Most viewing will be at night.
Does anyone have suggestions for speakers with this unit in such a space? I would like to eventually put in projection screen and LCD, with blu-ray/dvd and internet radio. On-line video will be limited to satellite technology in rural Arkansas. Much of today's hardware can duplicate upscaling et c. I have looked at the THX ultra2 7.1 speaker systems out there but auditioned none. The viewing space can be 7 to 14 feet out. What would you suggest? Speaker budget could be $1k to $5k, preferably $3k or less. (I started by looking into the Onkyo 9100 THX htib.) The room addition exhausted my budget before completion. I believe I prefer free standing and on-wall to in-wall speakers.
It will have to be done in stages. I may post this request in speakers/video/HT as well. This is my first system, basically.
Thanks!

It will drive pretty much anything very well. For your room I would recommend towers for your front and an investment in a very large (i.e. SVS PB13 sub). I run Definitive Techs with my 8.8 and they are fantastic. Their BPS and STS (Mytho's high end) are good options but they may be out of your budget. Two ST or STS will run $2-3k plus a good center another 1k and the surrounds another $800 but if you find them on close out at say BB or on E-By you may be able to get the whole set for less than 4k. The Definitives built in subs will hold you until you can get a large enough sub or subs for that space.

Congrats on the 8.8 purchase. I've had my B stock for about 8 months and this thing is amazing. I have one question... how do folks sink up the video and audio such as lips and audio?

Is the problem with all inputs (Cable/Sat, DVD & etc) or only with one input? All channels of TV? Are you using HDMI input/outputs? Or analog? If HDMI there may be some adjustments in your TV plus there is a sync. setup in the 8.8.

Thanks, eldithomas, for the suggestion!
Anyone else care to chime in on thx with the Integra 8.8 in a very large room?

It appear that my wife and I will be moving some time next year. So there will be a period of time that the HT will be down and out. We've had our 8.8 for some time and haven't updated the firmware. Is there any hardware updates too? Would it make any sense to send the 8.8 in for a complete upgrade? Has anyone done this? Turnaround time? Cost?

SCVDon:

Probably no hardware updates. You will loose all of your memory and settings if you unplug for more than a month so be sure to write them down.

Firmware updates would be a good Idea - I doubt the local repair center will do it for free but you could call and ask if they can also get you up to the 1.02 HDMI patch as well.

Hi! I hooked up my receiver to the network last night and was encouraged, when it promptly obtained the parameters from DHCP.

Unfortunately, when I go to "Net/USB", it does not see either of the two media-servers on my LAN... One of the servers runs Mediatomb on FreeBSD. The other is a vanilla Microsoft player on Vista...

Both servers are seen by another device, but Integra does not see either of them...

How do I fix the problem? Thanks!

Just got a used 8.8 today and the guy said he reset receiver to factory defaults. I attach speakers, connect HMDI out to TV and in from FIOS Motorola box and power it up.

I get a server startup, then no server message and then network light keeps flashing. Can't get past this message to get show cable on TV. Any ideas what I'm missing?

NM figured it out. Previous owner must have connected it to network. As soon as I coinnected it to network I could switch imputs.

Hi All:

I've have my 8.8 for several years and have been quite pleased with it. That said, one thing that drives me crazy with all the movies now focused on DTS audio is wide dynamic range. Basically, I have to sit with my hand on the remote to control the volume in real-time - with the sound up high enough to clearly hear dialog it is then too loud with most sound effects. For Dolby material, the Late Night Function may work (just found it), but the manual says that wont function with DTS sources. Anyone know of other ways to deal with this issue or are there perhaps firmware updates (I looked on their website and didn't see ANY) that will expand this function to DTS??

Many thanks in advance : )

I don't know how many out there still have an Integra DTR-8.8 receiver.... mine has been working great... until now!

I have noticed just this week that the USB and Network functionality of my DTR-8.8 seems broken. The receiver will get an IP address from my routers DHCP server and I can access the units own web page from a PC on the network.

When I press the Net/USB button... it just doesn't work, either not bringing up anything on the units display, or it can't see any DLNA servers, and it can't access network radio or USB stored music.

I've tried resetting the receiver back to factory default... but the same thing happens. I've also tried re-flashing the main firmware to see if that would fix it... but no.

Any past or present Integra DTR-8.8 receiver owner experienced issues with the Network/USB function on their receiver?

Michael.

I still own and use my 8.8 daily. I bought it new when it was introduced several years ago and the firmware has never been updated since I don't have a PC (and never motivated to lug the beast to a dealer). Overall it has worked well without any major issues other than running really really hot. I also never hooked it up to my network although I would have if firmware upgrades were possible via that route. I did just press the button however and the appropriate screen shows up on my television, thus I assume it still works on my unit. The one problem I have had recently is a remote issue .. the 'down' volume button simply does not work but the 'up' volume does. Therefore in order to turn the volume down I have to walk over and do it manually with the knob. It's annoying but in the grand scheme of things not a huge deal. I wonder if your problem is related to a wonky remote button .. although I'm sure you have tried accessing Net/USB via the button on the front of the unit without success.

I've done some more testing and found that if I leave the Ethernet cable unplugged, my DTR-8.8 will cycle through the three options (USB, iRadio and Server) without any problem and will in fact play MP3 files on a connected USB memory stick OK.

As soon as I plug the Ethernet cable it, USB MP3 playback will stop and then you can't cycle through the options. If you power the unit up an immediately select USB, you can find the name of the USB stick but you cannot open it nor play contents.

Being from a technical electronic service background (in a non-domestic repair industry), I am looking through the service manual (I have a Onkyo TX-NR905 manual which is virtually identical to the DTR-8.8, if anyone has a PDF version of the proper DTR-8.8 service manual I would love to have it).

The LAN board does a lot more than just the network connection... it handles SPDIF in/out, Zone 2 and Zone 3 audio out, the USB socket on the front panel goes to the LAN board,

The next thing to do is measure voltages on the LAN board to see if I can isolate the fault to one particular area of the board.

I have worked on my DTR-8.8 before. I replaced the EEPROM chip that main microprocessor uses (Q7391). This was done to cure the dreaded E2PROM ERROR message upon startup. This was done years ago and it's been working perfectly since then.

I will report what I find here.

Has anybody had the HDMI go out on their 8.8? I got home today with my son telling me that the TV does not work.

On simple check out, all HDMI sources show "No-Signal" on the 8.8 when selected. Analog 2-channel music sources still play. I plugged the xbox into Aux 2 and only sound played, no video to TV. I tried going to the 8.8 setup menu and did not get anything on the display. TV display connected via HDMI.

My first thought is HDMI board in 8.8 (if there is such a thing) went bad. This has been a great unit the last 5 years.

I do not have time this evening but here are my plans,

1. Connect source directly to TV and check video.
2. Connect 8.8 to TV via analog path and check video. If I get video i can check setup to see if something went wrong there.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks, Scott

I got lucky, I unplugged the unit for a few hours this evening. When I plugged back in, all was working perfectly. All setting still intact.

I just picked up an Integra 8.8 but am having trouble getting the HDMI to work with my "Fat" PS3. I have the PS3 connected to the HDMI Input 1 on the Integra and then coming out of the Main HDMI Out to my Projector on Input1. FYI, I have HDMI working with an Emotiva UMC-1 so I know the cabling, PS3 etc is working fine.

When I first got the PS3, I had it connected to a Yamaha receive and found online that I needed hold the Power button down and switch the unit on and it would reset the video setting and that got it working. I tried that with the Integra and only got it to work a few times in an hour that I worked with it. It mainly says "No Signal" on the Integra. The few times that I did get it to work, I wanted to use the auto calibration mic to setup Audessey. As soon as I turned off the Integra, plugged in the mic and turned the unit back on, I was back to "No Signal".

I have the Video set to Passthrough on the Integra and have CBL/Satellite input set to HDMI1 and in the settings, I have it set to HDMI Main (not Sub or None).

Any suggestions?

I think my DTR-8.8 is having compatibility issues. If i unplug the unit for a few minutes then plug it back in it works fine. If the unit has been on for a while, turned off then back on, the screen is pink and gray vertical bars. I haven't updated any firmware on it so I'm hoping that will do the trick. Does anyone out there still have the files for an 8.8? If so please email them to me , jb69029 at yahoo.com I'll be eternally grateful.

I just purchased a Sony XBR-65HX950 3D TV. I am running a DirecTV HR20-100 HD DVR via HDMI through the Integra 8.8 using the "through" setup setting on page 49 of the users manual via HDMI from the Integra to the Sony TV. My problem is that I cannot "unlock" from being "grayed out" the 4 3D channels on DirecTV. Channels 103, 104, 106 and 107 are not available to me and I get a message that my receiver is not 3D compatable.mad.gif Can anyone please shed some light on this problem to me?

Do you have to subscribe to these channels in order to unlock them in the DirecTV guide?

Is the Integra 8.8, which is configured to "through" in the resolution setup, capable of passing 3D channels or will I have to purchase a new AV receiver that is specifically "3D ready"?

Thanks for all replys.
