UMatter,

I see Morristown, TN on the list here http://www.charter.com/futuretv we are about 50-60 miles from this area and the surrounding cities/towns in the dropdown menu they also get the same local channels as us (Knoxville, TN DMA), So I was wondering if you could check to see if those HD channel additions will also include my area as well (Maryville, TN 37803)?

Thanks in advance

Charter's site has you enter an address, so I know that they can determine standard pricing.

I've asked these questions before through the online chat, as long as you have an address to give them they can tell you the regular pricing. You don't have to be a customer to use the chat either. Charter Online Chat

TIA

Unfortunately we won't be offering it in 3d in your area

Thanks,

This is correct, an address would be needed to pull correct pricing info.

DerKaiser -

Please drop us a PM with your Name and Address and we would be happy to help!

Umatter,

I see a lot of HD additions on the June channel line up for my market (29615). But BBCA HD isn't listed. Any idea if it's slated to get added later on?

Thanks
Good evening,

I am sorry to hear that is not slated to be released with the current additions. The additions that we have slated are the only ones that we currently have available. However, I have submitted your request for future additions in your area.

If you have any questions or concerns in the future please let us know.

Thanks,

Jeremy

I checked out the new channel lineup for Duluth, MN 55812 effective July 1st. I appreciate a couple of the additions. Thank you for adding GSN HD, G4 HD and MTV2 HD. I continue to hope for the addition of NHL Network HD, CBS Sports Network HD and IFC HD. ESPN 3D would also be nice. I would also like support for WatchESPN. My list of must have additions grows shorter with each time you add channels. Keep it up! Only three channels left on my list.
Thanks,
Dan

UMatter, I'm curious as to who makes the decisions as to the channels added locally and how much is decided at the corporate level since there's so many channels that seem to be added everywhere? For instance, the national channels at Fort Benning, GA are very similar to the ones here in Smyrna, GA (with at least ONE notable exception!)

Good Morning,

Thank you for the inquiry. It is a combination of our local and corporate marketing and product teams. We are working to better align the products offered across the board. For information on a specific market we do ask that you check http://www.charter.com/futuretv. Hope that helps!

Thanks,

Dylan

Thanks, Dylan. I have been looking at other markets, which is why I asked the question. Very many of the markets getting new channels are getting DIY HD and we are not, which is what prompted my inquiry.

Umatter,

I current have a cable card in my TivoHD. Looking to upgrade to the TiVo Premier. Will I be able to simply remove the cable card from the HD and do a self-install on the Premier? Thank you.

I have a weirder question that I have tried to talk to the normal Charter CSRs but it is a question that none of them so far has been able to help me with.

I currently have 2 cable card devices and there are a handful of channels that on occasion (about 10% of the time) will only output in Spanish. I have double checked to make sure that my tv isn't set for SAP. (which neither of them are)

When the channel is having that issue I will go to my DVR and there is a setting on my DVR to choose the audio settings and it gives me two options: English and English. But regardless on which one I choose it gives me Spanish. I have checked with other channels and shows that have SAP available and I can switch it back and forth without issues

This seems to happen sporadically but it seems to happen every afternoon on FX HD when two and a half men are on. It also seems to happen on Max HD occasionally.

Talking to my DVR provider it seems that I get this issue when the non-English audio stream gets sent first to the DVR from Charter. They said in order to fix this Charter needs "must send an English audio stream with an English label in their PID so it is detected properly."

I have talked to another person on the Moxi HD DVR forum and they have had this issue with both of their cable card devices. (Each device is different)

Good Morning,

Whenever you get the new device you should be able to call in and have the card swapped to the new device. Just have your Host information available

Thanks,

Dylan

Good Afternoon,

That sounds odd, sorry for the trouble. I'll need to get this over to your local headend to investigate and see if they can recreate the issue off of the feed. I'll replay back just as soon as I get somem ore info on it.

Thanks,

Dylan

UMatter:

The CSR on the Charter Chat cannot tell me specific dates for SDV in my area.. 92506.

Why should I switch when I cannot get information neccesary to make an informed decision?

First they say 5/31, then 6/12 then AUGUST.. All of this in the same chat session..

Good Afternoon,

Thanks,

I'm in Willmar as well. I can also check in the next couple of days and see if I can replicate. Are both your CC devices moxi boxes? I don't have a moxi however I do have a TiVo and a Ceton infinitv4 both with Cable cards in them.

Both of the devices are Moxi Boxes. The person in Ann Arbor MI has one moxi and one Ceton based Windows Media Center. The man from Ann Arbor could replicate the issue on both devices.

Are there any plans to start focusing on improving upload speeds for internet? Download speeds are plenty fast, but upload is severely lacking. 100 down vs 5 up is a big spread.

That would require bonding channels as Charter uses a single channel for upload. Considering their recent HD upgrades I don't think they have the spectrum to do that right now. To go to 4 channel bonding like they do with download means removing 3 analog channels. Of course if you were going to do that you could provide 6 more HD channels instead. Now would more customers want, 6 more HD channels or higher upload? I suspect they'd take the more HD. I remember it was just 5 years ago that 5 Mbps DOWNLOAD was the greatest thing ever. Now 5 bps upload isn't enough for some people.

Still nothing showing for west Tenn on the future TV site. I guess we always get everything last. Tenn has a whole 4 areas listed all in east Tenn. meanwhile over half of the other 15 states listed have a dozen or more areas listed. Some many times that. Only Nevada and Louisiana has fewer areas listed. Something holding you back in west Tenn, Charter?

Great, Thank you. As a follow-up, will I be able to just plug in the tuning adapter to the new device?

Dump the analog as they're crap anyhow.

Verizon just announced 300/150 service coming soon but the price is a mystery.
