Charter HDTV - Page 86

Umatter,

After three solid days with my HD Homerun Prime, I started getting "no tuner available" errors.
I called Charter and the CSR on the phone had me unplug the CableCARD and do a power cycle on the Prime, the Tuning adaptor with the card in the Prime on the power-up with no success.

Here's my status

Summary
Card Authentication success
Card OOB Lock weak
Card Activation success
Tuning Resolver initializing
Tuner 0 Channel none
Tuner 1 Channel none
Tuner 2 Channel none

And my log:

It looks to me like there's still some missing markets in California, all of Texas, eastern North Carolina and Virginia/Crisfield, MD. Other than that, the rest of the footprint seems to have been upgraded.
Now it will be interesting to see if any markets start going above and beyond the initial goal of 100. I suspect if this begins, we'll see it in St. Louis, who is missing a good many of the channels that have been seen in the later markets.
St. Louis didn't get BBC America, DIY, Fuse, GMC, H2, HSN, IFC, MTV2, QVC, Reelz Channel, TV Guide Network, WE, WGN America or World Fishing Network in HD. All of these have appeared outside of Charter's home turf, some with regularity.

I know that the Fort Worth Cluster won't be ready until probably 3rd or 4th quarter as right now they are working on upgrading some areas to 860MHz on the Waxahachie Texas headend which has alot of the amps replaced with CCOR 1GHz amps and the nodes have been replaced with 1GHz Aurora networks nodes. I don't know if they have replaced taps yet but they still could be at 550MHz in town I know that that system used to be two cable companies with most of the in city system being upgraded in the 90s to 550MHz Antec wtih Fiber Optic nodes by the cable company Metrocast (was harron cable back in the 90s) they sold the system their texas systems to Marcus Cable then they were bought by Charter. The outer parts of this system are 550MHz/450MHz in the rural areas with Scientific Atlanta and Sylvania Amps in most of the rural areas with another patch already being 860MHz with HD and HSI all of the system has Digital cable but the 860MHz area has HD already the 550MHz part has HSI.

Also, the channel updates look great, thanks for adding all of these! But I'm still disappointed there's no NHL HD! Is is a contract thing with the NHL, do you think Charter will get it before next hockey season?
The only other channels I'm disappointed in not seeing is HD NET...any chance soon?

Good Morning,

All available information is posted on the Future TV site. We ask that you continue to check back for updates as we will add them as more information becomes available.

I put in channel requests for NHL HD and HD Net for future considerations smile.gif

Thanks,

Dylan

Another vote for NHL HD and also ESPN U and CBS Sports Network in HD. While I appreciate the large number of HD addition coming these were 3 pretty big omissions. Omissions that will definitely be keeping me from getting the sports tier.

Also the future TV site only tells the MONTH when these changes are coming not the day. For my area the new channel guide says July 2012. Well That could be July 1st or July 31st. Be nice to narrow that down. I'd like to know if I'm getting more HD in 20 days or 50 days.

Good afternoon,

I am very sorry that the channels you were wanting were not included, but I will make sure that your requests are submitted for you. Also, in regard to the channel lineup changes we are a bit vague at first since there are delays that can happen when we do significant channel upgrades in an area. It gives us the time to ensure that the network will be able to handle the new channels, and ensure that the quality of the feeds meet our standards. I checked to see if there was any information I could find that had a day listed. Sadly, at this time we do not have any other information than sometime in July.

If you have any other questions or concerns please let us know.

Thank you,

Jeremy

Well I've had the charter bundle for almost a month now and I gotta say I'm loving it so far. The 30Mbps Internet is amazing. Steaming Netfix and Amazon work better than I could have imagined.

I love having G4 in HD. Perfect timing with E3. Didn't have that channel with Directv.

I'll put another vote for NHL HD.

Good afternoon,

I am glad you are enjoying the new services! Let us know if you ever need any help with anything, and I have submitted your request for NHL HD.

I am assuming that this is a problem with the tuning adaptor and am taking it in for exchange on my way home tonight. What is the best and fastest way to get the new TA paired and activated?
Good evening,

I see you have been working with Ryan via email. We ask of you to please make sure you are contacting our team via one avenue of communication. This ensures we are not doubling efforts, and helps to ensure that your issues are resolved as quickly as possible. Once you get the new tuning adapter, please respond to the original email that was sent, and I will send the activation hits for you should it how work on its own.

Thank you,

Jeremy

Okay. Will do.

UMatter,

Once all these new HD's are added, are you going to try and re-align channels? My biggest complaint is going to be having all the new HD Premium channels in the 5xx range, and the original four HD premiums in the 77x range. Much prefer to see all the HD premiums grouped together, even if it means mirroing the 77x channels to 5xx range.

Also, please add CBS Sports Network HD to the list of requests I PM'd yesterday! smile.gif

Good morning Kirby Baker,

We appreciate your feedback and are looking for the best ways to align our channels. We submitted your CBS Sports Net HD request yesterday, and I will pass along your re-alignment suggestions directly to marketing today. In MO/IL we did some realignments by moving channels to a more genre based lineup. (That's just an example). Please let us know if there's anything else that we can help with.

Thank you,
Abby

Just a suggestion to Umatter2Charter.

How about putting some basic Charter Links in your signature?

I just spent a few minutes trying to find the link to the new TV packages. That way we just need to find a post by you to get the link.

Thanks.
I may have asked this before but was unsure of the answer. Are Digi Tier 1 and Digi Tier 2 independent, meaning that they don't overlap each other or tier 2 is an add on to tier 1?

Are there any discounts for multiple prime channels? Until June 26 in the BundleBuilder it seems that as you add premiums the cost of each additional premium channel goes down. The new pricing seems to be a flat $15 each.

The current pricing seems to be less. If I am on a six month promo will I get rolled into the new pricing scheme at the end of it? Should I do a two year lock, knowing of the price increse coming in two weeks?

Great suggestion! Unfortunately we are only allowed so much room in our signature at any time and wouldn't be able to fit very much in there. Here is a list of the hottest links on here as of late, they shouldn't be too difficult to find and can always be bookmarked smile.gif

TV Help: http://www.charter.com/tvhelp
TiVo Updates: http://www.charter.com/tivo

That's too bad. Having that information instead of the tag line is more usefull.

You already have a link to your tag line in your signature.

If it were me, I'd have my signature like this and nothing else.

http://www.charter.com/Umatter2Charter
http://www.charter.com/tvhelp
http://www.charter.com/tivo
http://www.charter.com/tvpackages
http://www.charter.com/futuretv

Of course I'd change the links as things become old and new links on Charter's page come along.

Good Morning,

- Digi Tier I & II are different Channel Packages
- Premium channels are only $15/ea if subscribed individually. If you subscribe to them through one of the packages the price is greatly reduced.
- At no point will anyone be rolled automatically into the new pricing (Grandfather clause). To obtain the new pricing you will have to contact us by phone, chat, or any of the methods outlined on our info page: http://www.charter.com/Umatter2Charter

Thanks,

Dylan

Hello--

I'm in 55313. A local broadcaster (KSTP) moved around some of their digital subchannels. "This TV" was on 5.4 OTA and on 385 on Charter. Today, "Antenna TV" replaced both on OTA and Charter. However, Onscreen guide info hasn't been updated.

Also, the ex 45.5 ("Rewind") on 395 says it's "off air", but there is a graphic that is from OTA 5.7, which will be "Live Well". Will 5.7 "Live Well" go on 395, or will "This TV", which is now OTA 5.6, move over there?

Wow. IT's complicated. If you need further clarification (and I wouldn't blame you), please reply. smile.gif
post #2576 of 3294
Yeah that is complicated. I have no idea what you're talking about. Are you using Charter or OTA with an antenna?
Yes.

I have one set with OTA and the rest w/Charter. I was trying to equate the OTA streams to where they appear on Charter's lineup.

Umatter2Charter are any of the Texas system going to pop up on the future tv website soon? Is the Fort Worth Cluster going to get the updates all at one time or are they going to do certain areas at a time? Is Fort Worth in the process of having SDV installed?

Good Afternoon,

Information regarding upcoming additions is loaded into the FutureTV website as soon as it's available for release. It was put together due to the large number of markets we are working on upgrading so that the need to contact marketing to inquire would be eliminated. All of the information that can be released publicly will come through that site as quickly as we would be able to provide it to you smile.gif

I am showing that Fort Worth already has SDV activated.

Thanks,

Dylan
