Question for the experts?

What does it mean when on the back of a DVD it reads .. Widescreen 2:35.1 enhanced for 16x9 televisions. Does that mean that on a 1:78 screen there would be no black bars on the top or bottom? ( It is written on the back of the DVD - National Treasure )

You still get black bars, but because it's "enhanced for 16x9 TV's" the black bars aren't as big as you would get with a non-enhanced disc. To eliminate the black bars on a 2.35:1 movie you need a 2.35:1 screen. There aren't any movies that are "enhanced for 2.35:1 televisions", but with the right setup, you can upscale all DVD's so there are no black bars for any movies.
