Pioneer to launch BDP-95FD Blu ray player - Page 8

Yes, I have compared the 1400 and the 94HD and they are very close. I just like the pioneer better because you can change resolutions on the fly and it does have picture adjustments. Also, the userface is much nicer. Picture Q wise they are nearly idnetical...

Well I just paid full price for the first AV item in my life. I just pre-ordered the Pio Elite 95HD BluRay player at the Pioneer Store in Costa Mesa.

I was in the process of trying to get a discount from the beautiful Pioneer Store sales girl and wasn't making much progess so I asked to talk to Haggs and could tell she was a little distressed from my request so I told her I would pay full price from her. Her beautiful smile was worth every cent :-)

She claims these will be within a couple weeks max and that I will get the first one off of the truck...

Really hoping it comes in early this week...

P.S. Got to love Costco for the free loan of a PS3 Blu Ray Player for a couple of months...

Didn't Costco changed their electronics policy to 90 days? Or is the Sony game console not considered electronics by Costco?

I was at the Pioneer store in Costa Mesa today too. Checked out the 95FD. Looks EXACTLY the same as the 94HD. Well the case looks slightly different - but both are black. Guess the only real difference is that the 95FD is HDMI 1.3 compliant. Which I desperately need to be able to feed bitstream (for DTS MA) to my Onkyo 885 pre/pro (which I haven't received yet.)

Anyway - didn't pre-order the 95FD yet - as I'm trying to decide between the Pioneer ($999. list), the Sony S2000ES ($1200. list) or the Denon ($2000. list). Probably gonna go w/ the Pioneer though (cause it should be out by end of Oct).

Ron

I have only had it for about 40 days so far and intended to keep it but have since upgraded to Integra DTC-9.8 and the Pio Elite 95HD can send DTS-HD Master Audio bitstream which is decoded by the DTC-9,8.

Sony PS3 doesn't send DTS-HD MA bitstream yet...

I am having a audio / video calibration from UMR sometime in November so I want to have all of my components I plan to use by then ( but I also want to start enjoying the best audio right now :-)

Otherwise I would be doing the same thing...

Tony,

We appreciate your business and glad you got one of those beautiful smiles from Amie, I don't get many of those thrown my way being the boss and all

I was actually posting about my pal Tony.

So will you be shipping some 95FDs by the end of next week?

I will look into the status of the players again on Monday. Stay tuned.

jhagg, big Pioneer fan here. It is true that the 95 cannot be upgraded to BD1.1 by a firmware? If it can, I'll go plop some money down on one today. If not, is it possible that there will be an Elite player out before Christmas that can?
Will do. Thanks... I can't wait to pair it up with my new Sony Black Pearl... They should be one heck of a combo!

Hey good to hear you are a fan, I am too! Its great to work for a company when you really believe in their products.

I believe Chris Walker stated somewhere that it cannot upgrade to 1.1

This is no dig on you, I just have to say in reading the boards since we introduced our first BD player, all anyone talked about was these player HAVE to be HDMI 1.3 or they are undesireable, so after a few models and months we are able to deliver this to market, the BDP-95FD HAS HDMI 1.3, and now without profile 1.1 etc we are back in the same perception.

I really believe for those of you that have been waiting to see things shake out before you bought a player will REALLY enjoy the BDP-95FD. It is really a polished player with most features and benefits that anyone is going to want when starting your new blu-ray collection.

There will always be new features and must haves, but you have to find a starting point and just enjoy the kind of entertainment these machines can give you. I hope that makes sense to some, I am as guilty as anyone about wanting the latest and greatest, but sometimes you just have to sit back, relax, and enjoy what's available today knowing there is always someone out there who will buy your old unit when you are ready to upgrade, that is what this hobby is all about

As for another player in December, have not heard a word about one, but anything is possible. I am sure there is a guy in a room working on a 10th gen bluray player somewhere

Not only is she beautiful but very knowlegable and very good at what she does ( moved right to the close once she answered my questions :-)

But regarding the BD1.1, I am sure it is the next coolest thing to have internet interactivity while you are watching movies, etc. but I probably won't miss it much over the next year or two ( it is likely to be limited at launch and it will take some time for the content to ramp up, etc. )

What I am looking for the 95HD delivers on, i.e. PQ, SQ ( with DTS-HD MA bitstream generation), and features...

Damn Tony, you are making me want to movie out there!

Come on out - the weather (and women) are fine...

jhagg, don't get me wrong. I am 90% likely to get the 95. Certainly HDMI 1.3 and DTS-HD MA are a million times more important to me than watching a PiP commentary. I have only listened to commentaries on less than 1% of my DVD's, so it was more of curiosity than anything that I asked. Thank you also for a very prompt reply. All of my components are Elite with the exception of my speakers. Now if I could just somehow manage to swap my plasma for the 1080p Kuro, I truly would reach home video nirvana.

Hopefully we get some news today...

I really like Pio Elite equipment, my whole set up is Pio Elite with the exception of my XA2 and Sammy 1400. Any technical reasons to "upgrade" the 1400 to the Pio 95?

I'm really trying to convince myself I need the new Pio, but.....

Ok I'm confused. Is the new model the 95FD or the 95HD? I only see the 95FD on Pioneer's website yet people make references here to the 95HD (in addition to the 94HD).

It is FD on the 95. They changed the naming and most are used to using HD is my bet.
