All these data are from NPD and should be public in a few weeks, and why are you so angry?
I think they do include the PS3 because they always considered the PS3 a BD player - if not THE BD player. But Sony is not stupid - maybe evil, but not stupid. So what are they probably doing? They use a standalone player comparable figure for the PS3. They use the attachment rate to get a standalone alike number from the PS3 numbers. This means: divide number of PS3 by 5 and then add the number of pure standalone BD players.
Then you get the numbers shown. Numbers that fit very nice with the media sales numbers. Add a little spin, because lets not forget the main marketing method of the BDA is to deceive the customers. And there we are with the power point slide we all see.
And what does this for us? Nothing. Due to the PS3 the BDA has comparable about two times more players than there are HD DVD players. Big ******* news. Nothing new. Actually this is very old news - now with Paramount and Dreamworks being HD DVD exclusive and the increased CE support it is just getting better for HD DVD and bluray is going down.
Disney will go format neutral next. I think they feel it is getting time to enter the only REAL next generation format: HD DVD.
