I bought a Creative 7.1 computer speaker system and I can easily connect it to my computer and get 7.1 (Audigy SE), but now I am interested in connecting it to my Xbox 360 as well. The 360 has an Optical out, but in order for it to play Dolby Digital 5.1 I need a decoder.
Basically my question is: how could I connect my 360 to my Creative P7800 system to achieve 5.1?
My theory is to get a Digital I/O Dongle and connect an optical cable from the 360 port to this Dongle. I do not know if I can run the Digital input from the 360 through my sound card and out the speakers (also connected to the sound card) and if the Audigy SE will decode the DD 5.1 signal and properly distribute to the speakers.
