Except mine was pushed out (Denon) June 7th delivery(ordered May 4th) to now July 9th..

I have a feeling the Marantz is in the same boat..(they are very close in features ).

I wish I knew when some other brands like Sim or Arcam were coming at this point. I have a Gen 1 Blu-Ray so all is not lost quite yet.

Marantz site has updated to include more info on features - tick tock.
The manual states that it cannot output 480i.

The product features on the marantz site states that is does send 480i.

I wonder which is right?

I have a Lexicon MC12 and will be using Source Direct in the player so the MC12 can do logic 7.1 processing via analog 5.1. I also want the MC12 to do speaker management, room eq... From what I understand, the Marantz does not have the Denon's (3800's) AL24 processing. Does the Marantz have its own version of AL24? How important is this feature for home theater? Is this type of processing active if the player's Source Direct mode is used? I'm trying to make a final decision between the Marantz and the Denon. Thanks for your help.

My high-end dealer told me a couple of weeks ago that the BD8002 had been cancelled in favour of a profile 2.0 BD8004, due out in November.

Likely a New Zealand thing. But it is coming here to the USA within 2 weeks.

I e-mailed Marantz as to when this unit would be shipping, and they responded back that it is shipping in July. No specific date in July, just July.
My understanding is they're being flown in from Japan next week to NJ, so if you figure shipping time from NJ to dealers and then more shipping time out to customers, it should be late June or early July.

I got a similar story here in Aus, ...BD8004 in November/December.

From Marantz

"We have already presold our original incoming shipment for June.
Fortunately, we will be able to produce, ship and receive the July incoming
units this month. This will allow for additional BD8002 orders to be placed
and filled this month. We expect to begin shipping around 6/24/08. "
