- How does someone in a helicopter not see two people get out of a car and run into the bushes before setting a car to run down the road (that was some great alignment that police car had) on its own. For that matter, how do you not make at least one flyover to see if maybe your quarry is hiding in the bushes?
- The motel appeared to be pretty well abandoned in the middle of nowhere - yet the ice machine still works?
- The worst one of all though was how much did they telegraph the person who was the leak? On top of which, could we recycle any more plot lines? Next thing we know, they'll have a killer posing as a local cop....oh, wait....
Overall, I have a problem with the premise. As a P.I. show, it has potential. The problem is the vampire angle. By having him able to be out in the sun, stakes not killing him, crosses being kind of "meh" with him and his only vulnerabilities really being fire and beheading - it takes away the challenge of being a vampire. The appeal of most vampire stories is limitations of being undead. Heck, if all I had to do was drink some blood and tint my car windows, I'd be all over the immortal thing. I'm hardly out during the day anyway since I work in TV. I hardly have time to eat lunch, either, so slugging down a liquid meal would be much more convenient.
In reality, the vampire aspect seems to be an afterthought with this show. It's almost as though someone pitched a P.I. drama and the exec was like, "nah, that's been overdone" and the guy answers, "well, what if we make him a vampire, except he can go out in the sun for hours at a time and pretty much nothing that kills or repells vampires affects him...."
The thing is, I love vampire stories and shows. Maybe that's why this one disappoints me so much.
