You know you're addicted when you realize this thread is in the HDTV software area, while the thread isn't exclusive to this area there HAS to a reason while it's here. There has to be a reason, some hidden meaning, something i'm not seeing....

when we first planed the trip to vegas I tryed to go for the week of CES. even got tickets. wasn't able to go as only 1/2 the folks going could get the days off. were going the 2nd week of march now. so its now a matter of how to get to frys. as I've heard there BD selection is pretty good.

You know you're addicted when you;

no longer brag to your friends about your Bose speakers

You mean hook the Bose speakers up to the kids' tv and pull the name tag off of them.

You know you've spent way too much time here when you can pick out a large TV and home theater audio system that can cost thousands. And yet picking out a sub-500 dollar esspresso machine has you baffled...

Well, it was superior to this IMO, basically the bigger your monitor is, the more annoying black text on a bright white background is.
The reason is simple, the bigger the monitor is, the bigger the white area is, and the more blinding it becomes (mind you, my monitor has the brightness down to very reasonable levels).

If it was up to me, i'd customize this to a black background with either white or gray text instead.

I used to prefer white backgrounds back when i had a 17" CRT, but ever since i went 24" i just get overwhelmed by the light of white backgrounds.

when you actually miss not coming here and arguing about the format war........This place is just not as fun anymore. I bet the mods feel the OPPOSITE way LOL! I miss those discussions even when they were heated a bit.

The thing about formats is there will always be new formats coming and the wars that go with them. Allow me to light a fuse....: The only good 3-d uses shutter glasses and plasma
flattens LCD. Let the flames begin!!!

When you buy an iPhone(/iPad) so you can have the AVS mobile app.

Or wonder when the Blackberry app is coming

1. You don't have an app for AVS on your phone. But your phones browser can pull up the regular AVS site, small but you can zoom it after it l-o-a-d-s and then it scroll, scroll,scroll.... Sure you COULD wait to get to a computer with a big screen....But when you're addicted....
2. In haste you put AVS in your browser instead of AVS forum and when the AVS site comes up you say to yourself "Who ever gave these !@#$ people the right to use AVS anyway" This is NOT our AVS. But if you're addicted....
3. You're reading through a hostile thread where you disagree with most the posters, but you keep reading, reading,reading,looking for that one person on your side. (All the time fearing to post yourself). Why go through this, but when you're addicted....
And finally. If you started a thread on how to cure AVS forum addiction would anybody post?

Glad to see you post again in this (your) thread. It will be interesting to see who is still hanging around here, years from now.

......when you drop $100 for a measly few hours of snail pace internet service when on a cruise ship, just to check in on AVS.

Then you exceed your limit, and start paying 75 cents a minute....


And when it is a HT Cruise you're on, you know it's untreatable.

Like many people some form of mass transit may be part of your daily commute to work. You could use this time to read printed media, or invest in a tablet device and tether your phone to it for internet access. You're having a hard time justifying the cost of the tablet since you already have a phone and your commute isn't that long, I mean it's just a bigger screen. Of course the larger screen COULD be used to view and post on AVS forum.
Voila! PURCHASE JUSTIFIED!
