Need help choosing sub in basement HT

Hello - I am happy with my HT Athena speakers: AS-B1s, AS-C1 and ASIC8s (surround). But I need a good sub. I have been using a KLH (no laughing now) 12" 100 watt sub and with the concrete floors (covered with carpet) and concrete walls (under the drywall) the bass has a hard time. The concrete portion of the walls is only a couple of feet up from the floor. The rest of the walls are standard 2X6 w/drywall. The ceiling is only 7' high so I don't want to add a wooden floor.

The HT area is about 11X11 with a 10X11 area that is behind the seats. The 10X11 area holds the equipment and stairs. The 10X11 area actually tapers down to 4' wide as it goes away from the HT area.

I read here at AVS about Dayton. Is it good SQ?

I don't want to spend over $300.

Hi

Your hot link is not working. The BIC H-100 is a good sub, and the X-Sub from AV123 should work well for you.

Thanks Spyboy.

I removed the hot link. The Bic sounds good. I see some JBLs onsale at BB. Are JBLs well-thought of?

I guess there is a difference between the two different BIC lines I see for sale.

There is the BIC America Acoustech H100 and then several BICs I see for sale on Amazon.com that don't have model #s. Does the lack of model #s mean these Amazon Bics are just trying to use the BIC name w/o the quality?
I would link them but the links get broken. If someone can go to Amazon and search BIC subwoofers they will see what I mean. There is a 430 watt one for just over $200 that I wish I could find out more about.

But then, I should use the wisdom of this group and being such a sub-miser. I do need to get a sub with some muscle.

For the money most in this forum seem to prefer the A2-300 which is also $350 shipped. I believe you sacrifice a little amp power for more bass extension with the A2-300. I just received mine last week and haven't really put it through its paces but it definitely blows away the Polk sub it replaced.

Be warned that the eD subs are built to order and that they may take up to a month to get so if you aren't the patient sort you might want to go another option. For the price I think they are worth the wait - reminds me of the old saying "You can get it done good, fast or cheap - pick TWO."

The Bic H-100 was built with consultation by Dr. Hsu, it's quite a capable budget sub...stay away from the others. The eD subs are a definite step up and for your size room the A2-300 will do a great job. Great output and extends below 20hz. Excellent for HT. Craigsub gave it high marks based on performance, for it's price it's a real bargain.

x2 on the BIC. I got one a month ago and have been in love ever since. My girlfriend is a little jealous i think.....

Thanks guys! I really don't know much about subs.

Does anyone have a place they can recommend to get the H100? I want a good price but I don't want to deal with the cheapo New York based sites.

I appreciate the help, thanks again.

EDIT: HERE's a link to Bicacoustechspeakers.com. They have the H-100 for sale for $249(!). The price seems good. ($249 + $30 shp = $279 total)

go onto ebay and find sound distributors. Offer a buy it now price of $200. They should except that and It'll give $239 shipped because its normally $39 in shipping. Thats how I got mine.... absolutly love it, except my neighbors now hate me (live in an apt.).
