Would these speakers be pointless with this tv?

So I have a sharp 42" hdtv with two speakers of 15 W each.

I want to buy these logitech 2.1 pc speakers: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-2-Pie...9639251&sr=8-1

Since these are pc speakers, I have to hook them up through the headphone jack correct? Is this the adapter that I need?:

2nd question:

The speakers are 6W each with 20W subwoofer.

Will this give any noticeable increase in sound quality. I know tv speakers in general suck, but the total W is not much higher, and I'm going through the headphone jack, then through the adapter - so is it worth it with these speakers, does the subwoofer make a big difference?

the adapter is "Y-Adapter, 1/8 Mono Male to (2) RCA Female"

Yeah, Amazon links don't work.

Which Logitech speakers? If they're PC speakers, why do you need to convert the TV out to L/R RCA? The speakers should already have the correct headphone-type jack. The only thing you may want/need is a headphone extension cord.

do you think this will provide better sound?

i thought the plug was for a pc, and a diff size than a headphone jack plug - which is why i thought the adapter was necessary.

I was under the impression that PC speakers and TV speakers were pretty much in the same class, sound quality wise.

if its 2.1 speakers for pc, it will noticely improve your tv viewing experience.

Logitech's PC speakers have very noticable bass that is excellent for gaming, loud music and sometimes movies, despite my opinion that the bass too muddy/distorted for my own musical taste (mainly classical musics).

similar, except the pc speakers come with a subwoofer which grants the listener some value in 40-150hz frequencies. while the midrange and upper frequencies would be similar in quality, the absence of bass is not acceptable to most people, thus classifying the pc speakers as "much better" even though ~90% of the spectrum was there with the TV speakers.
