Kiki Dee - Almost Naked - Live SACD, arrived from Hong Kong today

Not sure how I missed this thread before!

Two months ago:
Porcupine Tree - Fear Of A Blank Planet [DVD-A] (BurningShed.com)

Two weeks ago:
Genesis - 1983-1998 [Hybrid MC SACD + NTSC DVD] (HMV.co.jp)

Last week:
Michel Camilo - Rhapsody In Blue [Hybrid MC SACD] (ConcordMusicGroup.com)
The David Brubeck Quartet - Concord On A Summer Night [Hybrid MC SACD] (ConcordMusicGroup.com)
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir - The Sound Of Glory [Hybrid MC SACD] (ConcordMusicGroup.com)
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir - A Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas [Hybrid MC SACD] (ConcordMusicGroup.com)

The last disc (MTC's Christmas) wouldn't play tracks 4-14, so I had to send it back to Telarc for a replacement. I received a phone call from Telarc yesterday; I was told they are afraid the whole inventory for this release may be defective as they recently completed a batch of pressings. They are in the process of testing other discs from the inventory. Excellent customer service, but I may have to wait weeks if the entire batch is defective. Being a Christmas gift for my wife this is disappointing, but if the first three tracks are any indication, it'll be worth the wait. Just a heads up if any of you are considering this disc for Christmas. I'll follow up once I hear from Telarc. Hopefully, this is limited to one disc.

As an aside. . .I know some members are already on here, but I wanted to encourage/remind people to check out quadraphonicquad.com and contribute to the review section. There, people can post written reviews of multichannel discs and rate the discs based on a 1-10 scale (poll guidelines). Rankings for all reviewed discs are adjusted monthly. Personally, I've found it a great resource and simply a lot of fun to peruse. Hopefully we can all contribute to the reviews and make it even better.

Best,
Josh

Hi Josh,

I am so sorry to hear you got a defective Mormon Choir Christmas Disk. I bought mine a couple of years ago. I want to tell you this disk is so impressive. The songs are wonderful and the choir is magnificent. On SACD it will test your system to the limits. Quiet, loud, orchestrated, volcals only, full choir that demands the best from your system. I listen to it often. Well, worth the wait. I like TELARC...I am sure they will come through for you.

I also have several of Michael Camilo's disks. All are excellent.

Recently bought Ray Sings and Bassie Swings...a magnificent recording.

Happy holidays

I like Piano solo a lot.

What is good SACDs for that? Recommendations?

Pvt. Brubeck Remembers--WWII era songs. I like it quite a bit. (SACD)
Pletnev Plays Schumann (SACD)

Each of these is both MCH and 2 channel. I love the way the MCH mix makes it sound like the piano is in the room. These are among my favourite SACDs and get played a fair bit.

Antonio Vivaldi: La Stravaganza by Rachel Podger 2-Disk SACD.

Speaking of a future "most recent", if you could buy only one (maybe two) which Talking Heads DualDisk DVDA would you buy?

I picked up many Jazz titles over the holidays direct from Concord records which had a sale of 20% off all titles (CD and SACD) in addition to free shipping over $50 and buy nine and get one free plus an extra 10% off during checkout with a coupon code from their newsletter.

Man....................

If you're a Talking Heads fan you gotta have both of those. Honestly, I couldn't pick between those if you held a gun to my head. They're BOTH important and highly influential albums. AND very different from one another.

I would put those above Speaking In Tongues, which is still must-have for a Heads fan.

All the TH hirez releases sound great, btw.

I think that 'Remain in Light' was my intro to Talking Heads waaay back on vinyl

I just wish that they had a release of 'Stop Making Sense' on DTS (or better, in BD) sigh....

You just can't really appreciate David's genius until you've seen it in action.

Finally time for me to dive into this multi-channel/high-res stuff, so I hit up Amazon this week for:

Beck - Sea Change (DVD-A)
Joe Satriani - Strange Beautiful Music (SACD)
Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms (SACD)
Diana Krall - The Girl in the Other Room (SACD)
Eric Clapton - Slowhand (SACD)
Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral (SACD)
Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (SACD)
The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots (DVD-A)
Getz/Gilberto (SACD)

The first five are already here, the other 4 should arrive sometime this week. I'm quite excited for the last two in particular.

John Lee Hooker: Boogie Chillen'. Found this one at a local Best Buy. I was a bit surprised to find it, but it was probably on the shelf so long as the CD case was all smashed to h**l. Very nice sounding Stereo SACD.

Also picked up the DualDisk of Talking Heads: Speaking In Tongues. Not quite sure if I like it just yet. But will give it a good chance once I hook all my speakers back up (HT project nearing completion )

Hey, thanks for posting that. I've been eyeing the redbook version of this at
Borders for weeks now; didn't know it was available as hirez.

I have had "Electric" for a while. Is it available as hirez, too?

Do you have Coryell's Tricycles, btw? Not hirez but a super CD.
