I listen to it often. Well, worth the wait. I like TELARC...I am sure they will come through for you.
Hi Marcus and everyone else,
Well, it obviously took a while, but Telarc received a new batch of SACDs (so anyone interested in ordering A Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas can do so without reservation!). Of course, Telarc came through and I finally received my replacement disc. Indeed, the original inventory of this release was defective! Every disc! They had to order up a whole new pressing from the manufacturer (Sony), print additional booklets/inserts, etc.
The CSR told me I was the first person to ever notice the defect. The CSR implied that the inventory was the same inventory it's been for years now. However, I was under the impression from one of the engineers that the defective batch was new. I would be surprised if the former was the case; I cannot be the only one to have listened to the stereo SACD layer (neither the CD layer nor the multichannel SACD layer appear to be defective). Marcus and others, have you played your SACD stereo layers? If not, give it a try and let me know if you have any trouble. I'd be very interested in your reports! Call Telarc and get a replacement disc; I will bet that they will replace the disc no matter what your original purchase date.
Long story short. . .as compensation for my troubles, the CSR asked me if there were any other SACDs in their catalog that I was interested in owning. I said: ABSOLUTELY! I KNEW that wishlist on sa-cd.net would come in handy! I pulled it up and gave her one title and she said to pick one more! She said Telarc stands behind their products and their customers and does not tolerate this kind of inconvenience. How about that!? Talk about refreshing! For two free SACDs, it was certainly worth the wait/hassle.
PS - The free discs were:Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra
- The Big Picture
[Hybrid MC SACD]Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers
