Some interesting quotes from one of the reviews on sa-cd.net.

"We did absolutely everything conceivable to replicate the actual sonic ambience of the Copa and Sam Cooke's performance there." Further in the release it says: In the 5.1 version, the mumuring of the audience, the sound of silverware on china, of ice cubes in highball glasses, is subtly discernable. Sound engineers looked at floor plans of the club and watched the scene from the film Goodfellas that was shot in the Copa just before it closed in order to gauge the space and its acoustic characteristics so as to make the new mix "true" to the room. In this reviewer's opinion, ABKCO should get an award for their work with this disc. This is clearly what is meant by the phrase "above and beyond the call of duty." I only wish other companies took their work as seriously.

Upon hearing a playback at a private listening of the 5.1 surround sound program of his late brother's Copa performance, L.C. Cooke exclaimed with tears in his eyes, "It's like he's here with us again!"

Well alright! The race is on to see who gets it first and is the first to play it in all its surround glory. Man this better be the SACD we're getting or you guys are going to be pissed at me. I think you'll be the first as you order it a few days before Brock and I, so you'll be reporting the good news first..Well if it turns out to be a dud, I'm mailing my copy to you Hm Digipak? I thought most people where opposed to digipaks, well at least to my understanding. I don't really mind as long as the sonics are great.

I emailed import CDs after I bought the sacd to see if they are sending me the sacd or rbcd. No response yet. But I emailed them last night and it is the weekend now... I'm not to worried about, but I'm always skeptical till I actually have the disc in my hand.

Oh and digipaks suck!!

I just picked up Aimee Mann/Lost In Space. I have her other SACD (Bachelor #2) but don't own Lost In Space in any format. It's only 2-channel but it's a MoFi and I found it at a decent price.

I'm hoping it is a digipak as that is how the SACD is packaged. Much like the Stones SACDs which is the same label as this disc. The CD comes in the standard jewel case.

Carol Kidd " Nice Work" SACD/MCH 9.99

Unless I really need to have a specific SACD, I try not to go over 20 dollars for any title, so far it has worked as planned as I've been passing up on a lot of brand new SACDs only to find them chaper in the used bins

That is a good way to go about buying SACDs. Fine library of SACDs you have there. I would like to know where the used bins you are frequenting are.

Pulling my Amazon cart together ... as I read the ABKCo website, the Sam Cooke Copa title is only available as a hybrid CD/SACD, i.e. there is only one SKU for both the Compact Disc and the Super Audio CD because they are the same product.

In June of 2003, Sam Cooke at The Copa was reissued in a brilliant sounding hybrid CD/Super-Audio CD that runs circles around all prior editions of the record.

I think we are good and I am ordering one w/o waiting for one of you to report back.

I believe you are correct as the further I read the product description over at importcds it states the same thing you posted above. It also shows the release date of June 2003. I checked my order at importcds to see if it had shipped and the price went from $9.99 to $12.01 with only three discs left. So with all the added interest of this title discussed here it might be a worth while purchase before it is hard to find at a decent price.

I picked up the last 3 SRV mofi discs a couple of weeks ago and have Tea for the Tillerman and Wish You Were Here on preorder from Amazon.
Looking forward to the upcoming Ray Charles releases as well.

Reading all this talk about At the Copa makes me want to go listen to my copy. I believe I have all of the Sam Cooke hybrids except for the EU only release.

Yeah, could be fun looking for discs locally. I have over 200 SACDs and DVD-As and every one was purchased online. I used to buy used redbooks from Amoeba stores in college but thought they were all gone.

I'm game, holt7153...Amoeba is still the place to go, but I've also found some other used CD stores around the South Bay area. I stopped by Amoeba yesterday and there were many SACDs especially in the jazz bins.

I love Aimee Mann, and lost in space is great, I own the redbook for it and played the heck out of it, but lost it some how. Would love to know what you think of it.

Strange when you said digipak I immediately thought of the Rolling Stone packaging, perhaps because I had a difficult time selling the 4 sacd digipak I had, it was one of the questions I would get over and over. Do they even come none digipak???

I really don't know how to handle this, I've had issue with this Seller in the pass kinda let it go last time, well I didn't have much proof before a few back and forth emails got me no where. I believe a few here have send offers to this guy as well to.

This is going on Agon btw, I notice there was a Roxy Music Avalon for sale, and I immediately pressed/clicked on buy now button without much thought of whom was I buying it from .As of 12.30 am there wasn't any response, mind you I purchased early in the evening so I'm thinking he had a change of heart .( True this guy lives on the other side of the planet)

He first send me a quote for the shipping, ( shown below) and then I get an email saying it was some sort of mistake, below are the two emails I got from via agon. Part of me thinks this isn't a big deal, I have bigger fish to fry, and the other part of says I can't let this go..With some help of my shirk here Bill Mac I've been reclaiming my inner primal self.

I really don't go around giving people negative feed back, I think I've done it twice, when I should have given at least half a dozen times in my 10 years on Audiogon.

So I'm thinking of writing to Agon, which I'll probably get no real help, and they'll tell me to just give him negative feedback I thinks I've answered my own question, but would like to hear what would you guys do.
