Jay,

I'll say WOW! I have a few of those titles but not all of them. It is good to see another obsessed SACD/DVD-A/CD buyer in the mix. Enjoy the music and your new speakers! Which ones did you buy?

Metal full-extension drawers and dividers.
I need get my HD-DVDs(yeah I'm one of those) out of there and put them in a rack to make more room for music as I really don't want to buy another one right now.

What's a Can-Am Cabinet?

I got rid of my HD-DVD's and kinda regret it, I could have ripped them or had some rip them for me I have close to 300, could have save me a bunch on replacing them for blu's..

That's a real sweet set up you got there..
I keep thinking about The Ascend Towers myself, if I ever was to do a switch of speakers, I just don't know if they're be a huge step down from the speakers I have now..Anyway I bet those new sacd must sound beautiful, lets us know your thoughts, or even better if you have time to write a music review.

Jay,

Now that is an excellent system! I had the Sierra-1s and Sierra Center for quite awhile. They are great sounding speakers so I am sure the Towers with RAAL tweeter sound excellent as well.

Yeah Pet Motel nice system.
I have a D2 and an A-5 amp.
IMO, Anthem amps are vastly underrated.
Dead quiet, solid design and construction, neutral sound.

I'm right there with you on the Anthem amps. I love when an awesome piece of music just comes out of that black hole of dead silence! Combined with the incredible detail, and sweet, airy presentation of those RAALs, it adds up to a very enjoyable experience. Unbelievable sound stage, and imaging compared to the former Mirage speakers as well.

I'm not really up for a review on every one of the new titles I bought, but I was thinking of listing the ones I'd put on my "A list" if that is something anyone would be interested in.

I'd like to thank whoever it was that suggested the Junior Wells title, that baby ROCKS, and it has got some wicked bass! Slide guitar work is off the hook as well!

I'm sure the Anthem and Ascend are an excellent match. I'm sitting here listening to Peter Gabriel's Up SACD cranked and SQ is excellent! I have the Salk SongTowers with the dome tweeters but I'm sure the RAAL tweeter would be a nice step up.

I don't blame you as that would be quite a few reviews. Doing an "A" list would be great.

I have that Junior Wells' SACD as well and it is an excellent sounding SACD without a doubt. I think I paid $9.99 for it so it is a bargain for the music and MCH SQ.

FWIW,
Re: RAAL vs Dome or ribbon vs soft dome vs metal dome.
I plan on dragging my Salk HT2s(LCY ribbon) upstairs to my 2 channel system and doing an extensive A\\B\\C tomorrow between the Salks, a DIY 2.5 way my brother built with a Rick Craig x-over and Harbeth HL-P3ES minis.

Tweets are LCY ribbon, Hiqufon OWII 20mm soft dome and Harbeth 19mm aluminum dome.

OK, what I'm going to do here is an "A list" of the new titles, the ones I initially enjoy the most, and are most likely to see regular rotation in the play list.

Well that cuts it in half, maybe I'm an easy "A", or maybe I just did better research on some of the titles LOL! Obviously, just because these turned out to be my faves, some of the others are also very good, just not so much MY cup of tea, or in the case of the Cat Stevens, everybody in my age group already knows that one so no point in considering it.

Found this on YouPay (aka eBay) : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fleetwood-ma...ht_1827wt_1396

Do you think this is a price typo or is this person just in la la land?

I plan to upgrade my mains and center this year and I'm torn between the Sierra Towers/RAAL and Songtowers/RAAL. I'm very happy with my Sierra-1 NRTs but the Salks sure seem interesting.

Wow no bids, I'm shocked. I would say this person is definitely in la la land with a starting bid of $500.

I disagree, Bill--evidently you missed this in the item description:

Disk edge is treated with CD stoplight pen for improved performance.

Steve,

That is a tough one. If you are close to Ascend HQ maybe you could get a demo there. Then you could also contact Jim Salk to see if there are any RAAL SongTower owners in your area. I think either choice is an excellent one as far as overall performance and with both being excellent companies. Having been an owner of speakers from both companies I can say without a doubt both offer some of the best service I have ever experienced.

Ahhhh I missed that feature. Well let me go place a bid on that priceless DVD-A.

Actually in my scientific studies, he should've used the DVD-Audio stoplight pen and NOT the CD spotlight pen.
The CD pen will result in limiting the disc resolution to 16\\44.1.
Bummer.

Yes, of course, the lossless pen.

I agree that a demo is the way to go, but a proper demo would be in my own home. I have a feeling I would really like both speakers provided they are properly calibrated in a decent room. Some recommend "ordering both and sending back the loser" but I'm not sure I would feel right about doing this with a smaller ID company. Both Jim and David F. put their heart and soul into every speaker they make, and I can attest to the high level of customer service you mention. Plus knowing the way I am if I liked both I would somehow justify keeping both . If I'm not mistaken both will be included in an upcoming "speaker shootout" so I'll be following that thread closely.

I'm kinda partial to my pet sounds LIVE!

Sorry couldn't help it, but if you notice my screen name, the reason for it is I have a LOT of pets (5 monkeys, 3 Irish Wolfhounds, 1 Airedale, 2 Yorkies, 2 Sugar Gliders, 1 Wife) you get the picture.

Holy Neverland Ranch . Hopefully the monkeys aren't swinging from the new Sierra Towers. I had to Google "sugar glider."

We actually have a room in the house with a full size locking gate dedicated for monkey play. And yes, it does have an apparatus hanging from the ceiling for them to swing on!

As a matter of interest, my 7 year old Java Macaque "Zander" (11 lb. monkey) was sitting on my shoulder as I typed this, and he regularly attends with me in the recliner while watching movies, or listening to music.

We watched Avatar Friday night, those big flying creatures coming right at us from the screen had him ducking, and hiding behind me for cover. It was hilarious, we had a great time! He's also a big fan of "Ice Age, Dawn of the Dinosaurs"!

He also seems to enjoy the music, in the evenings he will cuddle up next to me, and the music often lulls him off to sleep. He's an awesome HT companion. Wife, on the other hand, has no interest at all???? At least I always get to watch, or listen to whatever I want!
