Thanks for the tip. I just ordered it, along with Moody Blues' Search of Lost Chord - Deluxe Edition. Hopefully it's the SACD version; I couldn't tell from the Tower description.

I mean that I hope the Moody's disc is SACD. I know that the Workingman's Dead I ordered is DVD-A.

More times than not, I've found "2-4 weeks" at Tower to mean "we don't have it, but one of our suppliers might have it".

If the Towers doesn't work out I saw third party on Amazon for Workingmans Dead DVDA and American Beauty DVDA

edit: Hmm. Links dont seem to be working. You will have to search for it "manually".

Received "Frantic" by Bryan Ferry last week. Excellent recording.

Sacred Feast, choral album.
Diana Krall: The Girl in the Other Room, jazz vocal. There are others by her in SACD.

I picked up Jeff Beck Blow by Blow on SACD from a Fry's in Houston, TX. They still have a decent selection of Hi-Def material. Anyway, it's fantastic, nice 5.1 mix, excellent sound quality.

Retail SACD shopping in HK was actually very disappointing. I mean, I know that they have a ton, yet, HMV just has some that's all mixed in, and the smaller venues are even more mixed in. Couple that with the fact that we don't speak any Cantonese, and it was a bear. Teresa Teng was the only one that we could manage to find.

I was seriously hoping for more titles such as those that can be easily found.

On the other hand, our suite at the Pennisula was really quite something. Color me totally impressed. It makes the Four Seasons in the US look like Motel 6.

Just got an email from tower.com saying that Workingman's Dead has shipped, so I guess I got lucky on the "2-4-infinity" situation.

I just ordered the Allman Brother's Eat a Peach, At Filmore East, and Elton John's self titled. They should be here in about a week or so.

Nick Drake, Treasury. This is a sweet compilation of this now legendary Brit folk-chanteur. A true original like Dylan or Peter Hammill. I like to play this as 2-channel SACD rather than the m-c version. How I wish that his three original works were released as SACDs! Also just ordered David Gilmore's "Remember That Night - Live from the Royal Albert Hall" DVD, Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. The reviews have been outstanding!

I can't say I disagree with SACD shopping in HK. I was there about 3 years ago and the only music store that had a dedicated "audiophile" section was a relatively shop called "Wai Wai Shop" in Mong Kwok. I have way more luck shopping online for HK SACD titles through HK e-tailer hifi-cd.com.

You stayed at the Pennisula? Wow $$$ Do they still have its fleet of Rolls Royce limos??

Good for you! I'm glad they were able to ship it to you. I've got 'The Searchers' SACD on order, but it has been almost 4 weeks now. That will make it 3 of 4 that they haven't had what I ordered. I feel like I am more helping them clean up their inventory tracking more than than actually getting something.

Old news for all you SACD experts but I made my first purchases and received them today:

Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon
Dire Straits: Brothers in Arms
Diana Krall: When I Look in Your Eyes.

Can't believe it took me this long to listen to SACD on my PS3. Unbelievable.

How is the Mendelssohn? I have it on RCA Living Stereo with Heifetz, but I've been looking for a more recent recording/performance.

Too bad no car included ;-)

My purchase of a 2004 TL 3 years ago was what turned me on to DVD-Audio in the first place.

My most recent purchases have been classical. Bought a couple of the Living Stereo SACDs with recordings of Jascha Heifetz playing Brahms and Vieuxtemps as well as the Artur Rubinstein Saint-Sa*ëns SACD.

It's a little bit disappointing in MC. Mostly just drums coming out of the surrounds, but sound quality is nice.
