Just won on e-Bay: Genesis: The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway SACD

This by far is the most difficult Genesis SACD to find and also one of the priciest.

Chet Baker - In New York SACD

I've been looking at this SACD for awhile and just found it on Amazon for $13.04 shipped so I couldn't resist a bargain wink.gif.

Just received my copy from Wal-Mart. The DVD-Audio disc is excellent. Haven't listened to the other 2 discs in the package yet. Never been a huge LS fan but after listening to this DVD-A, I am impressed with the sonics and music. Very well done mix.

Thanks for posting the link.

Demo quality "smooth jazz" titles I recommend -

Botti "Night Sessions"
DiMeola "Consequence Of Chaos", "Flesh On Flesh"
Najee "My Point Of View"
Pieces Of A Dream "Love's Silhouette", "No Assembly Required"

The Spyro Gyra titles are also good, but may not be considered smooth jazz. And the Yellow Jackets are more straight ahead jazz.

I have Gerald Veasley "Velvet" but haven't listened to it yet. My guess is that it should be on my recommended smooth jazz list. Oh, and the classic Grover Washington Jr "Winelight" is also stunning.

All titles above are 5.1.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I'll have to check out the Chris Botti, Najee and a few of the others I don't have. I've got the DiMeola SACDs which are quite impressive, and the Spyro Gyra SACDs are also very enjoyable.

Just breaking balls--they're still the champs until someone dethrones them.

Did you ever pickup that Radiohead bluray? I can't stop listening to it.

Amazon has it too but it is a lot more expensive. Heckova deal from Walmart.

Would have been nice if this was MCH but the 2 CH is very well done.
One of the few SHM -SACD's I would recommend.
Ok, you sold me.
With the coupon points I had with CDJapan it cost ~$20 total, FWIW.
That said, I'm done with SHM-SACD in my own limited way.

biggrin.gif Yup that would be the order of things, especially in this sport, you don't see too many 3peats in the NFL, hm not too knowledgeable about history of but there aren't too many Bulls, Lakers , or Yankees in this sport.

Hey Dan,

Very true, although the AFC looks very tough this year as does the NFC.

There was some discussion about "smooth jazz" titles, I picked up David Sanborn's "Time Again" on
DVD-A (96/24 stereo and 5.1) at a fairly reasonable price, I can recommend getting it... Nice SQ &
mix, good musicianship and selection of covers & originals. Steve Gadd, Christian McBride, Don Alias,
Russell Malone and Mike Mainieri play with Sanborn on the album.
Gosh, I have that Sanborn title ... for some reason it didn't jump out at me when I perused my spreadsheet. Yes, you are correct, it should be included on any hi-res, smooth jazz list.

Being a Dan fan, I have looked at some Steve Gadd titles ... Gadd Gang comes to mind specifically ... are they good?

Does anybody have the title "Captains Journey" by Lee Ritenour? Reviewing my wish list for Gadd and I have come across this "Japan 2011 1st Press Only Limited Edition SHM-SACD / 2CH Single Layer." As you might already know, I am suspicious of SHM and 2 ch, so I am looking for feedback.

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff,

I looked on sa-cd.net and there is for feedback on this title. I also looked on Amazon and even the CD looks pricey. Unless it is a title you are familar with I would avoid spending $60 on the SHM-SACD.

Thanks. It is a fabulous album, but I can't justify the price.

Just wondering if anyone has noticed that the newer dvd audio discs being released don't seem to sound as good as the older releases. I can't blame the age of the music because my Eagles Hotel California and others sound awesome in the surround format. The last 2 I bought were Rush Moving Pictures and the Lynyrd Skynyrd Southern Surroundings and I feel that the sound quality is not nearly as good. They both seem to sound good in 2 channel but the surround mixes seem to lack the punch of the eariler released discs or even the 2 channel mix. Even though Hotel California has a 192khz 2 channel mix I think the 5.1 mix sounds better. Any thoughts?
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see some new dvd audio releases but I feel the sound quality could be better. A note on the Lynyrd Skynyrd release: The concert dvd was worth the price paid since their old footage is hard to come by. I wouldn't mind paying more for dvd audio releases if the sound quality was as good as they once were.
