Hey Dan,
MK here ahh I mean Bill wink.gif. I almost bought Love Over Gold a number of times but just couldn't pull the trigger. I've had the S/T SHM-SACD for quite awhile now and that sounds great.

Isn't MT confused.gif, oh I get MK smile.gif I went to bed a 3.am last night, and got up at 7.am, a little slow here well more than usual tongue.gif... once I finalize a little deal that I'm working on I def need to get my hands on some DS in my collection.

Steve if you don't already have you should get your hands on Sailing to Philadelphia on DVD-A, and Shangri-La on SACD Mr. Knopfler.

I'll check those out. I think my money tree just grew a new branch. If not, I'll have to wait until commission checks are issued!

Dan,

MK = Mark Knopfler, but of course you knew that wink.gif. Get some rest buddy and I hope you finalize that deal. You definitely need some new additions to your SACD library biggrin.gif. The Sailing to Philadelphia on DVD-A is highly recommended on this end as well. Of course the Shangri-La SACD is excellent too.

Steve,

Thanks smile.gif. Yes I have and I can't wait to give it a spin. I'll have to do a marathon Dire Straits and MK solo listening session in the near future smile.gif.

Hey Dan,

You are so right wink.gif. If I ever feel like I'm going overboard with buying music I stop by this thread. After a quick visit I don't feel like I'm the only one that can't pass up a good SACD, DVD-A or CD biggrin.gif.

I just listened to Grover Washington Jr's Winelight DVD-A. What an enjoyable album with a very immersive surround mix. Now I'm listening to Buddy Guy's DJ Play My Blues SACD. This is an excellent sounding blues album that has a great surround mix. I feel like I'm on the stage in the middle of the performance. This SACD is from JSP Records that has put out some very good blues SACDs in surround.

I'm really jones'n (sp?) to get my hands on a copy of Keb Mo's Just Like You Everyone raves about this CD, even those that didn't know of Keb Mo before SACD. I've been a fan for a long time and have the redbooks. Hoping for a good commission check in Feb so I can buy this one at market price.

I have The Sailing to Philadelphia on DVD-A, it's one of my favs. I also have the Shangri-La CD/DVD-A combo, very nice as well, much cheaper than the SACD, same SQ AFAIK and more easily rippable to digital.

That is a fabulous album, and in 5.1 at that! This thread introduced him to me as well.

I was checking the coming sacd releases on acoustic sounds and noticed that for 2013 there is a mofi sacd release of Patricia Barber's A distortion of Love. No release date posted though.

My favorite DVD-A set by far. Bought it the day it came out. Oh it helps to be a T.H. fan but I think their music really lends itself to multichannel.

If you like TH, a must have for your collection is the Stop Making Sense bluray. Highly recommended.
I thought I already had Stop Making Sense but I just checked my DVD/BD database and nope. Then I remembered I have it on Laser Disc.eek.gif
I actually saw them on that tour in Virginia. Time to spring for the BD.
Heh! I saw them in NC that year. Great concert, terrific movie by Jonathan Demme - one that all hyperkinetic concert movie directors today should be forced to watch to see how it really should be done. It's on my list of BDs to purchase. Jerry Harrison did an incredible job with the Brick.

+1 one of my all-time favorites, I was very happy when they released this on Blu-ray, also have "Remain in Light" on dual-disc, would love to someday get the entire "Brick" set...

It looks likes Patricia Barber's A Distortion of Love SACD is available at Music Direct. I just checked what the shipping would be and it is $10 eek.gif. I'll wait till this title hits Amazon or importcds. The shipping fees that Music Direct and Acoustic Sounds charges is way too much IMO. I find that Elusive Disc has very fair shipping charges.

I got a shipping estimate of 2.66? I'll still wait. 29.99 will probably be around 22 bucks at import cds when available.

Stereo SACDs don't cut the mustard, IMO. Modern Cool was redone in 5.1, and that is where the bar is for me. If we all held out for SURROUND mixes, they'd get the message and do more of them. {/rant}

Modern Cool in 5.1 is simply a gorgeous mix [/lovefest]
