I know I'm late to the party on this copy but listening to The Beatles Love DVD-A, dts, Dolby surround, etc, and I'm pretty impressed, super rich and intense surround mix..I'm not the biggest Beatles fan, but I do respect their work, and in this format it comes like I've never heard them before.

If you get to Las Vegas, you should see the Cirque du Soleil show that this title came from!

I thought it had a Cirque du Soleil show feel. I think it's pretty current sounding, with lots of soul which lacks in today's music rolleyes.gif

Although I will admit that as a casual Beatles fan there was a lot going on visually that made no sense to me. I assume most of it pertained to various albums, lyrics, etc. Or maybe I just needed a few more cocktails wink.gif .

I'd say that there was a lot of references to details in the Beatles' music, allusion to other details and then artistic license that integrated that into a Cirque du Soleil extravaganza.

A little late to reply but Acoustic Sounds shows it available for preorder so I wonder if it will soon be available here in the US.

Amazon.uk has the better price but I wonder about the bitstream and menu issues others have reported with the import disc.

I will be heading to LV this summer to catch the show. The DVDA was one of the first DVDA I ever purchased and it instantly hooked me on MCH. It is an excellent disc.

I hope that the entire Beatles collection will someday soon be released in hires and maybe even mch hires. They have the masters already in hires digital format so the holdup is most likely licensing and distribution issues.

I read an article a few years ago about the design of the sound system for the Love show. I don't remember all the details but I seem to remember that the sound was of extreme importance and thus the room, speakers, layout, power and so forth were very well engineered and no expense was spared.

I've seen all of the Cirque du Soleil shows, Blue Man Group, Celine Dion and Elton John Red Piano, and thought the sound was the best at Love.

Smart man, I bet you'll get at the same amount of time as the 10 bucks shipping.

This thread is bad news for my wallet, but great news for my ears smile.gif

Some discs on their way:

Dave Brubeck: Time Out SACD
Depeche Mode: Music for the Masses (Deluxe Edition CD+DVD)
Depeche Mode: Violator (Deluxe Edition CD+DVD)

gloco - I know we talked about it earlier but unless you got the UK versions of the Depeche Mode albums they don't have the Hi-res Multi-channel tracks. That's not to say the Dolby and DTS multichannel tracks on the DVD aren't good, just not hi-res. The UK versions had SACD tracks on the CD.

glangford,

Nice move on ordering by phone to get lower shipping costs smile.gif. I'll be ordering this SACD in the near future for sure. Please post your thoughts when you get a chance to listen to it. Do you have any of the other PB SACDs?

Those willing to wait importcds has a preorder for the PB A Distortion of Love SACD. You can request an email notice when it will be in stock.

I just finished listening to PB's Companion SACD and it sounds incredible. The last song "You Are My Sunshine" has chimes in it and they almost sound like they are playing from my surrounds. I know this SACD is stereo but the soundstage and the imaging take on a surround type effect. I rarely listen to this PB SACD but I will be listening to it much more smile.gif.

Arrived today:

Eagles "Hotel California"
Dylan "Blonde on Blonde"
Dave Brubeck Quartet "Time Out"

It is a good day.

Had to update...listening to "Take Five" right now. I'm amazed at how dynamic this well over 50 year-old recording sounds. The drum solo and Desmond's sax flirting with Brubeck's steady piano riff....Classic.

No, I don't have any of her other CDs. I do have the Modern Cool Bluray that came out last year. I'm hoping for either more mofi sacd or blu ray releases of her work. I"ll post listening impressions when it arrives.

The guy I purchased from on the phone said they listened to it and I wouldn't be disappointed.

I just checked the preorder for the "A Distortion of Love SACD at importcds. The price is now up to $33.97 which is $4 over what Music Direct and Elusive Disc are charging rolleyes.gif. I sent them an email asking why the price jumped almost $10 from a few days ago. I've been a customer of importcds for a few years and I'm not too happy with their service lately.
