On the same bluray, there is also a number where they join James Taylor for another acoustic number (Love The One You're With) - not as stellar but pretty darn good.

This bluray is one of my new favorites..........All in DTS HD MA.

Back on (or is it off) topic, I definitely bogart this bluray.

I definitely have the 25th Anniversary disc and it is another fantastic concert blu-ray. Listening to a lot of music today before I settle in to several hours of football.

Jeff,

There is a 5.1 (DD and DTS lossy) version of On an Island. It is included in the four disc Live in Gdansk CD/DVD set. I have this set and On an Island in DTS sounds excellent. I'm sure it would be better in DTS-MA but it still sounds great smile.gif.

Nicci Gilbert and the Soul Kittens "If you love Me" AIX 85045 Blu-Ray. high energy sould, great music. Superb audio as always from Aix.. Full band sounds great in 5.1 Stage mix. Solo tracks,"half of you" and "God bless the Child sound better in 5.1 Audience Mix. Very nice HD video too,Love the video for "Sometimes Dancing".

Thanks. Perhaps it escaped my attention because it's not DVD-A or SACD. Along with being a 5.1 snob, I am a hi-res snob as well. Dolby Digital 5.1 (or even DTS) doesn't meet my threshold. I'll hold out for high resolution audio.

I understand where you are coming from. But I tend to doubt there will be a 5.1 Hi-Rez release of On an Island.

Yep, I agree that it's not likely. But that doesn't alter my stance ... or make DD sound any better.

My intention wasn't to alter your stance or try to convince you that DD sounds any better than Hi-Rez. But as I recall the DTS mix sounded very good and if it is a title you enjoy why not smile.gif.

Thanks, Bill. And generally, I try to keep my 5.1 hi-res preference to myself and not rain on the parades of those who enjoy stereo in hi-res and maybe even 5.1 in DD/DTS. Martin's post got me back on my soap box. Before I step down, I'll cite the Don Henley "End Of Innocence" DVD-Audio title. It is 5.1, but it is lossy DTS.. However, the first song - the title track - is DTS-ES (better, but still lossy). After that song, the balance is straight DTS. It is like a curtain descending over my system.

For the cost of shipping, anyone who want this Henley title can have it. Ditto the copies I have of Alan Parsons "On Air" (5.1 DTS) and Poco "Crazy Eyes" (5.1 DTS)

Rush 2112 (BR), and while I was at it, I had to order Songs For Beginners (DVDA) because you guys talked me into it.

Bummer. The guy selling the Blood, Sweat & Tears got back to me and said that was an old thread and he no longer wants to sell it that price. I personally think that reflects poorly on him as a seller but to each his own.

Ace,

I do not have the original SACD of Come Away With Me as the SQ ratings are quite poor. I was tempted to get it a number of times due to the low price but I stuck with the RBCD. From what I have read the APO SACD sounds much better especially the stereo mix. Here is a thread from the Steve Hoffman forum discussing the Norah Jones APO SACDs and vinyl. Towards the end of the thread I believe there is some comparisons of the CAWM SACDs.

All you guys in the northeast, hunker down! Looks like it's going to be another doozy.

I've got 600 people heading home from Las Vegas today, a large number of them are heading directly to the belly of this beast. I'm hoping everyone makes it home safe and sound and the damage is minimal to none.

Feel sorry for those folks who are still digging out from Sandy. I heard that many areas still have no power.

Yes we will hunker down smile.gif! It has the makings of another Blizzard of '78. We can deal with the snow but those still effected by Sandy are the ones that need the most help.

Hi all,

Haven't posted in a bit.. just lurking.. but I picked up this..
http://store.acousticsounds.com/d/84860/Elvis_Presley-24_Karat_Hits-Hybrid_Stereo_SACD

Elvis 24 Karat Hits SACD and it sounds amazing!!! Even my wife took notice of it!! I'm almost positive it sounds better than the old DCC disk.. anyways.. it is now one of my top reference SACD's.... smile.gif

I also went a little crazy and bought the LP 180gm 45rpm version.. http://store.acousticsounds.com/d/64788/Elvis_Presley-24_Karat_Hits-45_RPM_Vinyl_Record

I haven't cracked it open yet but will let you guys know how it sounds compared to the SACD!!

It's a great time to be an audiophile nowadays!!

Cesar,

I wouldn't be honest if I said I was sorry to hear you "fell off the wagon" biggrin.gif. Misery loves company so I hope you keep up the buying as you always seem to find the bargains in Hi-Rez smile.gif.

Got home from Vegas and found 3 Elton John SACD's waiting: Captain Fantastic, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, and Honky Chateau. Also, ELP Brain Salad Surgery DVD-A.

Just for fun I ordered Oscar Peterson Quartet: Trail of Dreams: Canadian Suite. Not familiar with this one but it had good reviews, and OP is one of my favorites.

WIlly J ..........Grrr.......It took 13 days to come to Edmonton, Canada..........longer then it usually takes. I think the disc authoring is flawed as the cursor stays on track one and is blue in color and just blinks..........no matter what track you are on. I will just listen and not look..........I had a 5 GBP credit on my account so it only cost me $11.33 CAN delivered (6.99 GBP). The 3 disc CD set with the same 50 songs (and crappy abrasive cardboard packaging) costs $37.99 CAN in local stores.

It's the most ----ed up (insert your own 4 letter word of choice) menu ever designed. The blinking blue is by design. It took me a good 15 minutes to figure out how to move the curser from the tracks listing to the audio modes. Use the up/down arrow and the left/right arrow and you should be able to get it going. The problem I had initially was that I thought the blinking blue light was waiting for me to make a selection. Just highlight the selection and then press play or enter and it should play. The blinking blue will not go away, so yeah, don't look at it.

What you may also be experiencing is that the disc will be playing but you won't hear the sound because of handshake issues. This is particularly true if you have selected the non-default audio mode. Not sure what the issue is with the disc soundtracks, but keep playing with it (you won't go blind)smile.gif.

If you do finally get it going, you will be rewarded with an excellent 2 channel assortment of the RS best. I would also suggest you experiment with the Audyssey settings, Dyn EQ and RLO if your particular AVR or Pre/Pro is so equipped.

Are you using either an Oppo or Denon?
