Any idea if the original 2-track master is DIGITAL?

edit: ok, it was '04 so it had to be digital. i wonder why the surround remix is "stunning and revealing detail never heard before" while the original master now in high res merely "sheds new light?"

OK.  I mistook the word "Premonition" in the quote to be the title to another upcoming PB reissue.  Shows what I know about her music (by choice).

Tubular Bells was available on SH a while back..almost pulled the trigger on that one. Love the other choice...have an LP of that sitting around somewhere.

I'm listening to Peter White's Glow SACD and I forgot what an outstanding multichannel SACD this is. If you can find it for a decent price I highly recommend it !

I have had that one in my Amazon wish list for at least 3 years now - I guess I have been waiting for someone to validate that it is worth the asking price. Might pick up a used one - can't pay the $300 toll for the new one - ridiculous.

Glow is a great SACD. A while ago I recommended this DVDA, the SQ and music are just great, I highly recommend it.

Need to find Glow on the loaner program...Sounds interesting.

What is the deal with the SACD release of Close to the Edge??? I was expecting to receive this pre-order weeks ago, and it keeps sliding out. Now it is March 5th. Very frustrating!

Got my copy today and was pleasantly surprised to see that this is a TELARC direct to DSD recording. Will be giving it a spin tonight - it ought to be a winner.

Edit: Oh, and I really like it when they tell you the source (analog tapes, direct to dsd, etc.) They even tell you where the guitars are situated in the room and which musician is playing in each spot in the room.

This evening I had the time to step through the three Tarkus discs. The largest improvement was from the original CD to the new, alternate I think they call them, stereo mixes on CD. Stepping from that to the high resolution DVD-A of the new stereo mixes was ... disappointing. It might have been a wee bit better sounding, but it was not as large an improvement as there was from CD to remixed stereo CD.

This leads me to believe that the original multi-track tapes just don't have enough "life" in them to benefit from lossless, and that Redbook can convey most of what is gained by going back to the masters and stepping forward from there with today's technology.

I certainly don't regret buying ELP and ELP: Tarkus for my collection, but honestly I doubt that I will listen much. They aren't really even bong-worthy.

Tossed this one in the Oppo Jazzin' Surround I was pleasantly surprise on the SQ, and the mc mix, aggressive at times, but done right. Heard of Spyo Gyra, Jacco,Pieces of a Dream, but never heard of Yellowjackets, and a few others on this sampler which is more of a Jazz fusion. It was cheap too,well relatively inexpensive, so get it will you can.

Thanks! I have no intention of catching up with any of the "big boys" collections. I'm becoming very selective about the titles I add to my SACD collection...need a compelling reason to do so, either a hole in my collection or an amazing review that clearly states the SACD's superiority over previous issues. If so, then I'm all ears

Does anyone have this Frank Zappa DVDA and if so would you please comment on the SQ and music?

I have the same question, also the Jazz At The Pawnshop 30th anniversary SACDs.
