Martin,

If you do grab the Quadrophenia SHM-SACD check ebay for great pricing from blowitoutahere.

Just bought on ebay:

Supreme Jazz - Chet Baker SACD

I threw a bid in for $19.99 and I was the only bidder.

I was kinda thinking the same thing smile.gif
Although I'd want to see how many of these guys are getting their asking price but jeez put a buy now at $125-150
and someone would most likely jump on a half-price deal.

Chesky records. Bucky pizzarelli, swing live in 4 channel. Bought DVD-a then extracted to multichannel FLAC. Pure and sweet.

I just received Bryan Ferry Frantic on DVD-A, I've had this on my SA-CD.net wish list for a long time wasn't even aware it was on DVD-A. Oh and it's sealed, I have a couple real gems sealed and those are the disc that I have the most difficult reaching out to play...What a sickness is this hobby of our redface.gif

Looking forward to your review of this one, that is if you ever can break the seal!

I'm brand new to her music so I had no idea what to expect. As Jeff alluded to the standup bass is outstanding.

I've been eager to get to Chicago to watch her perform at the Green Mill, but I also see she's playing at the SF Jazz Center this weekend. Wonder if I can break away from the family and sneak over there!

Hey Dan,

It is an obsession not a sickness biggrin.gif. I have the Frantic DVD-A as well and it is a great sounding disc. I wouldn't rate it on a par with Avalon or Boys and Girls but its good. The prices of the Frantic SACD are steep as are the prices of The Best of Roxy Music which is really high eek.gif.

I finally installed new surround speakers in a much better location. I was using Def Tech BP2x (bi-polar, the speakers not me wink.gif) that were mounted on the ceiling. I have a vintage pair of ADS 300Cs (from 1980) that I bought new and rebuilt them with new woofers and tweeters. The Def Techs were mounted on the ceiling as my livingroom is open on one side. I mounted the 300Cs on the back wall about 60" up. What a difference having a direct radiating speaker with soft dome tweeters compared to the Def Techs. I listened to Donald Fagen's Morph the Cat DVD-A, Alison Krauss' New Favorite SACD and Porcupine Tree's Lightbulb Sun and Stupid Dream DVD-As this morning. It is a huge improvement in SQ and I can only imagine what it would sound like with a pair of SongTowers for surrounds eek.gif. I know a few of you guys have matching towers or bookshelf speakers for surrounds and they must sound real nice smile.gif.

After listening to the PT DVD-As this morning I highly recommend buying Lightbulb Sun and Stupid Dream if you don't have them. Both the SQ (5.1 mix) and the music is excellent. I had never heard of PT before but thanks to Dan and Steve they got me interested in them smile.gif. Both DVD-As are still available and are fairly inexpensive on Amazon.

Hey congrats, Bill cool.gif. The best thing about an upgrade like this is that you get to listen to all your favorites again and enjoy them even more. And +1 on Stupid Dream as it's probably my favorite PT disc.

Holt, I just noticed that you listen at 11.

Thanks Steve smile.gif. It is true as I listened this morning the imaging and the way the surrounds blend with my LCR speakers makes it a whole new listening experience.

Hey Dan,

Sorry no DIY pictures as I did the rebuild in work so any pictures might prove incriminating wink.gif. The drivers were rebuilt by Richard So at ADS Speaker Repair Service in AZ. Richard bought almost all the NOS parts stock from ADS when they went out of business. All I did was remove the drivers and then install the rebuilt ones. Back in the day ADS was quite the speaker company for both home and auto. I had a number of their amps and component speaker systems in my cars/trucks in the 80's.

Oh, I missed that one.... Have to place another order.

Did you get the 2 disc or the 3 disc version? Is the 3 disc version worth the almost double cost over the 2 disc?

Hey Dan,

I have the Ben Webster Meets Oscar Peterson SACD and it is a great one smile.gif.

Just out of curiousity did you try to insert links form sa-cd.net for the SACD titles? I ask as everytime I try to add a link or emoticons within exsisting text it gets all screwed up. I have been meaning to contact the Mods but thought it was my computer. But it happens on several computers that I use.

I thought it was my laptop..I've been looking for excuses to get me a new one..Tongue out smiley face..

These are all classics imo.

Captain Fantastic is really a beautiful album.
While GYBR, is also a brilliant album it's probably the worst sounding of the lot.
By worst I don't mean terrible but it definitely has a digital edge to me.
I have both the SACD and the DVD-A and they sound identical.

Your lucky.
In my experience a sealed Harvest is very tough to find but I never get tired of listening to it.
Very natural sounding from the bottom to the top.
