I understand why you are happy with the 95 and have no interest in getting the 105. But I don't understand why you would slam the 105 which is an excellent player without a doubt IMO.

Bill

I didn't slam the player, it's a fine player. But for me they added features I'd never use so i didn't see a reason to upgrade.

As far as the fan goes, I've never heard it.

Wow...did I hit an Oppo thread by mistake.
I'm always amazed at the high percentage of Oppo owners on the thread. I'm in good company!

I personally really enjoy Kamakiriad !!

Was lucky enough to have a good friend of mine pick me up a mint copy awhile ago for a very reasonable price.

Great sounding disc.

103 owner right here

Was listening to my recently acquired DOORS SACD. Incredible

Also, yesterday arrived the Norah Jone- The Collection. What a nice box the CDs are in.
Bought it brand new for $190 delivered. I thought that was a great deal from what I seen of the package and the CDs sold separately.

Looking forward to listrening to them smile.gif

I caught this on my local public TV station the other day and found there was a bluray out - should be PFG.

Got this one today and am listening to it right now in glorious DTS HD MA. Highly recommended.

I've got the Donald Fagen DVD-A box set that I found the other day that I realised I don't listen to anymore as I also have individual releases that I do play. I was thinking of putting this on eBay.

It has Nightfly, Kamakiriad and Morph the Cat (all in 5.1) plus a bonus disc. What do you think that's worth?
Yes - Close to the edge (SACD Stereo)
Porcupine Tree - Deadwing (DVDA 5.1)
Porcupine Tree - Deadwing (DVDV 5.1 + CD set) - I had to see if it was same audio...
ELP - ELP (DVDA 5.1)

Cesar,

Thanks smile.gif! You aren't far behind and you probably spent half of what I did on my collection biggrin.gif.

Homer,

The Nightfly Trilogy box set is DVD-MVIs and not DVD-As. I have the Nightfly Trilogy box set and it is an excellent set with quite a few audio and video bonus tracks. The SQ of the 5.1 MVIs is very good but not as good as the DVD-As. Check ebay and Amazon for the prices there to gauge what you should sell the box set. The box set is great way to have all three Donald Fagen solo albums in surround without the high cost of the DVD-As.

welcome to the club! i like all three, but i find myself listening to kamakiriad the most these days. it's a fun record to listen to and the sound quality is fantastic.

Does anybody have The Who Tommy in 5.1 DVD-Audio? It can be bought on Amaz for about $20. I am a big fan of this album (and Who's Next), but being an older recording, even remixed it may not .. well you know. smile.gif

I have both the SACD and DVD-A of Tommy.
I personally find the sound quality of the DVD-A to be VERY good for a recording from the 60's.
Sound quality between the SACD and DVD-A is so very slight with no real winner taking top honors in this contest.
DVD-A or SACD you can't go wrong if you like this album. smile.gif

I agree. The dvda is excellent.

Thanks smile.gif. I borrowed a friends Kamakiriad DVD-A awhile back and compared it to the DVD-MVI. The DVD-A was the clear winner in all SQ aspects especially clarity and imaging. The DVD-MVI sounds very good but the DVD-A is the one to own IMO.

Has anyone bought off of the elusive disc site? How is the quality and their shipping?

I've ordered from Elusive a few times and they have great service. The shipping and packing was fine with all items arriving safely. What are you planning to order from them?

You mean SACD? Acoustic Sounds & Music Direct are good too and try Amazon as well.

Check out importcds as they have the APO SACDs in stock for 26.89 plus shipping. Shipping costs are $1.49 per disc with a $1.50 handling charge per order.

Thanks. I was close to buying the SACD for under $15 pus shipping, but didn't have confidence that what they'd ship was the SACd and not the CD. So I opted for the DVD-A for about $20 delivered. I am looking for the 5.1 DVD-A of Quadrophenia now.

Jeff
I too can vouch for the Tommy DVD-A.
AFAIK, the 5.1 of Quadrophenia is only available as part of the expensive boxset and only 8 cuts are in 5.1
But after posting this I guess your are already aware...

Just bought:

David Elias - The Window SACD

I've been looking for this SACD for quite awhile. It is a very rare SACD and the SQ is supposed to be excellent. I have David's Crossing 5.1 SACD and it sounds outstanding smile.gif.

Here is a blurb from David's site about the Crossing SACD which is still available.

What Stereophile magazine described as "Extraordinary" -- Award-winning songwriting recorded for HD and 5.1 with outrageously gifted backing musicians. Stark. Soulful. Poetic. Honest. Acoustic. It doesn't get any easier to listen to than this.

Recorded at Slipperworld in La Honda, CA as 100% Pure DSD using minimal micing and a Sonoma workstation, "Crossing" features many of the same remarkable backing studio musicians as "The Window".

Relax and listen to the audiophile reference level acoustics in either 5.1 surround sound or in stereo. Plays on any CD (stereo only) or SACD player (DSD stereo or 5.1).

"Crossing" joined the top list of picks (finalists) by High Fidelity Review writers and listeners for the 2005 Surround Music Awards in 3 different categories: "Listener's Choice", "Best Made-For-Surround Title", and "Best Non-Orchestral Mix". It is a 100% Pure DSD recording!

Any difference?

I have deadwing DVDA and its GREAT!

In absentia DVDA is my last 5.1 PT missing album.. Going for nearly $100 on eBay eek.gif
